July is always a busy month celebrating my birthday, anniversary and life in the Summertime! Trusting that you and your families are all well and enjoying the Summer!

Here is some good news in honour of our Indigenous People:

The Government of Canada recently introduced legislation to make the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation a statutory holiday for federally regulated workplaces in the country. This day aligns with Orange Shirt Day to commemorate the tragic history and lasting effects of Canada's residential school system and honours Indigenous survivors and their families and communities. It will be observed annually on September 30, starting this year.

Today is June 1st... Happy and safe June y'all! Below is a reminder of the changes in the mortgage industry, effective today.

Following this confirmation, the Department of Finance announced that these qualifying rate rules will also
apply to insured mortgages based on OSFI's qualifying framework.

This means that effective June 1, 2021, both uninsured and insured mortgages will qualify at the greater of
the customer's contract rate + 2%, and the minimum qualifying rate (5.25%).
