Happy Birthday to our amazing son!

It’s hard to believe how quickly the years have gone by. Watching you grow into the person you are today has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. We’re so proud of you and all that you’re becoming.

PAY YOURSELF FIRST

It sounds simple. But what does it actually mean?

For many people, the process looks like this:
Pay the bills.
Buy the groceries.
Cover the expenses.
Handle everything else that comes up……and if there’s anything left, save it.

The problem? There often isn’t anything left.

Paying yourself first means making your future financial security a priority—not an afterthought.

Before your money gets spoken for by everyone and everything else, decide what portion belongs to future you. Because building wealth isn’t just about how much you earn. It’s about what you do with what you earn.

So ask yourself:

Nobody ever likes to reflect on their failures, but today, with a heavy heart I feel I must reflect on one of mine. A friend died.

It is a blessing in disguise as a couple months ago he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and he has been in severe pain.

What makes me distraught is the fact that this friend asked me to meet with him and his wife about life insurance and the infinite banking concept. He owned a small business and his wife was primarily a stay at home mom with a couple of side hustles in her spare time.

My friend was very interested in the concept of life insurance and using it as a tax-efficient way to warehouse his corporate profits. Unfortunately, his wife only wanted to invest money in real estate that she could touch and stand on.

I understand that it is a belief deeply rooted in her culture, but I failed to show her the value life insurance brings to both the living and those left behind.

I remorsefully look back and think what could have been if my friend’s wife had been more open and willing to learn. Would my friend’s cancer have been detected earlier during the underwriting process and would he still be with us today?

Would bringing a cheque to provide for the family financially instead of just condolences make any difference to his children’s future?

I regretfully will never know.

Friend, I am glad that you are no longer in pain. My thoughts and prayers are with the family you left behind. Please pardon me for failing you and your family. I never want to feel this way again.
