🏡 Mortgage Update: Bank of Canada Holds Rates Steady 🏦

The Bank of Canada has just announced its second consecutive rate hold. 📈 While the overnight target rate remains at 5.00%, the prime rate for variable-rate mortgages will stay at 7.20%.

The Bank expressed concern about inflationary risks and price pressures, emphasizing that they are ready to raise rates further if needed. 📉 Economists expect the Bank to maintain its cautious stance into 2024.

Notably, the Government of Canada 10-year bond yield is at its highest level since 2007. 📊

In today's Monetary Policy Report, the Bank adjusted its GDP growth and inflation forecasts. 📈📉

GDP Growth Forecast:
- 1.2% in 2023
- 0.9% in 2024
- 2.5% in 2025

Inflation Forecast:
- 3.9% in 2023
