On this chilly Wednesday morning we’re busy planning our second last market of the season. Where did the summer go??

The fun continues this weekend with Miss Amanda’s face painting and a chance to win a gift basket filled with farmers market goodies.

So please come try your luck and have a good yarn on Saturday morning between 9 am and noon at Forest Ridge Academy, 59 Forest View Drive, Barrington.

Your favourite vendors will be there with fresh baked goodies, fresh produce, beautiful skin care products, home-sewn creations and so much more.

The joys and discoveries that await us tomorrow at the Barrington Farmers’ Market include some super interesting varieties of pumpkins that Jennifer Yellow Brick Road Farm has been growing this year.
They’re decorative, as well as edible, so come see Jenn tomorrow for the details.
Some of the varieties on offer will be Speckled Hound, Mint Prince, Cheese and Galeux d’Eysines.

Just the names alone are enough to peak our curiosity!

The sourdough flavour of the week is apple cinnamon, and it looks delectable 😋

Chris will be there with fresh fruits and veggies, we appreciate you Riverview Produce Farms!

Tracy Sherose Island Blooms will be joining in the fun, and sadly this will be the last Saturday for the season, as she’s getting busy feeding the masses. Her beautiful flowers brighten anyone’s day 😊

This week is also the debut of our new vendors Gluten Free by the Sea, so come see what they’ve created.

Excitement is in the air today! Firstly, we’re back at it this Saturday, September 5th.

Secondly, we have a new vendor joining us; Gluten Free by the Sea. You may have met Katrina and Hardy already in the Kids Market Club tent or around the market. As soon as they moved to the area Katrina and Hardy wanted to contribute.
They spotted a need in the community and are answering the call, so anyone looking for quality European style gluten free bread and more made only with the best ingredients should come check out their offerings from 9 till noon on Saturday at Forest Ridge Academy, 59 Forest View Drive, Barrington. Let’s help make their debut a big success!

If the weather is anything like today you’ll find all of us snuggly set up inside the school, which brings us to the third reason we’re excited; we’ve received a builder’s quote for the proposed Pavilion, marking another important step in the process.

To say we look forward to being able to set up inside our own dedicated building in the future is a huge understatement, and we can’t wait to see our vision become reality for the community, if the remaining details and approvals can be finalized.

For those not yet in the know, the Municipality of Barrington has been supporting us in our quest to have a pavilion style building constructed, not just for the market, but for other events as well, such as live music performances, theatre, or anything else that suits the venue.

The municipality has Sherose Island has been identified as our proposed new location for the pavilion, subject to final approval.
It is our original home and where the Barrington Farmers’ Market started.

We’ll be close to the Barrington Sunshine Garden, and we’ll be included in all the other goings on throughout the season on Sherose Island again. We miss those events and can’t wait to be in the middle of it all, but with a proper covered structure; no more foul balls from the baseball field to worry about either, and that makes us happy.

We’ve included some mock-up images of what the proposed pavilion will look like, and would love to hear what you think of our proposed new digs.

We look forward to breaking ground, but there are still details to finalize and decisions to be made by Council, but we’re encouraged by the progress so far and will keep you updated as the proposal moves forward.”

In the meantime we appreciate all of you who have been coming to see us at our temporary hangout at Forest Ridge, which is a wonderful venue, and has served us so well in the interim.

Only three more markets this season, so let’s make each one wonderful!

Hi folks, here’s just a friendly reminder that your favourite local market, the Barrington Farmers’ Market 😊 won’t be operating tomorrow (August 29th), but we’ll be in full swing next weekend, so come see us September 5th from 9-12 at Forest Ridge Academy.

In the meantime go enjoy the Exhibition; on right now!
The weather looks beautiful for the parade tomorrow.

So go and squeeze every last bit of goodness out of the tail end of summer if you can, because soon the kids will be returning to school and we’ll have to wait until next year to do it all again.
