Have you taken time to look ahead? Take some time to do this in different areas of your life, but have a plan that will project this for you financially.

Where would you like to be financially in 5 years? Also, with what you are doing now, where will that get you? What is your debt freedom date at the current pace you are going? How much interest will you pay? How much will you have saved and invested?

Is there something that you can tweak to slightly change the trajectory just a little and make a huge long term impact? In my experience, there always is. And that's an exciting thing, not a scary thing.

Do you have a financial plan that allows you to get by or do you have a financial plan that is moving you forward?

You work hard for your income. You should have the peace of mind, joy, excitement in knowing that your money is going to work for you. Your money should be feeding your goals.

Your money should be growing, multiplying and creating future choices for you.

Most people have the right type of registered accounts but they are sitting in the wrong place.

If you have a TFSA (Tax Free Savings Account) or an FHSA (First Home Savings Account) good for you!!! However, if those TFSAs or FHSAs are sitting in a bank account, they are going to grow as well as a seed left in the packet.

The whole purpose of having a tax sheltered registered account is to have money grow without being taxed on the growth of that money. If you are not getting a decent amount of growth, you are not getting the full advantages of these accounts.

If you are setting money aside, good for you!! You are ahead of most people. But if your money is only making 1-3% then it is either underperforming inflation or just keeping up with it. It's not really growing and working for you.

I understand there can be an element of fear that goes along with that. The financial industry can use fear mongering as a way to keep people from moving on to better places but staying stuck does not equal safety.

It can be hard to know what to do with your money without the right knowledge and yes, that can feel so overwhelming.
