Cladding Draftsperson / Job Description
1. Summary of Responsibilities
The Draftsperson is responsible for the creation and completion of shop drawings and bill of materials for approval and construction.
2. Relationships
The Draftsperson is a member of the Project Team and reports directly to the Operations Group
3. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Create shop drawings for assigned projects of Metal Siding, Insulated Metal Panel (IMP), Plate and ACM or other architectural product, complete with the miscellaneous components.
• Creation of Bill of Materials for Fabrication
• Obtain, follow up and issue samples, shop drawings and related contract documentation for approval.
• Maintain contact/coordination with Customer and Architects if required.
• Use company drawing standards as guidelines.
• Quantify change orders in conjunction with Project Management and Estimating.
• Work directly with project managers and estimating to produce drawings and bills of material from sketches, existing drawings, Architectural, Structural, Steel Framing and Steel Joist drawings specifications and addenda along with written and verbal descriptions.
• Work closely with all departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free.
• Utilizes drafting resources to create new tools to more efficiently carry out above mentioned tasks; includes hardware and software design.
• Performs additional related duties as requested or required.
4. General requirements for Draftsperson position
• Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD
• Proficient with 2-dimensional AutoCAD design and drafting, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and results, technical skills and knowledge, strong verbal and written communication skills, teamwork skills, able to work with limited supervision, able to follow directions, ability and willingness to learn.
· 5+ years of experience in a similar Drafting Role / Preference given to Cladding or IMP experience.
· Knowledge of Building Envelope Exterior/ Interior Cladding details & rain screen principal assemblies.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Organized and structured work habits.
· Post-secondary education in Architecture Design or Drafting Technology background, or demonstrated equivalent work experience considered an asset.
· Experience as Architectural Technologist for the development of the architectural design drawings
· Strong Blueprint reading capability is a must, Architectural / Structural etc.
· Competent knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Office Suite / 365 products including Outlook, Excel & Word.
· Thorough knowledge of quoting methods and procedures.
· Must be self-motivated & punctual.
· Demonstrates strong leadership and sound decision-making qualities
· Must be able engage multiple tasks awhile having excellent follow up skills internally & externally.
· Deals effectively and cooperatively with established policies and set procedures
· Must be professional in appearance and language
