This week marked the 39th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Barrie Fun Run. Once again, The Jones Consulting Group Ltd. team was proud to take part in this incredible community event.
It was wonderful to see hundreds of community members come together to participate, support one another, and enjoy the day. To top it all off, we could not have asked for better weather!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Rotary Club of Barrie Fun Run another memorable success. We are already looking forward to next year.

Big things are happening in Wasaga Beach

The Jones Consulting Group Ltd., Brandi L. Clement, AICP, MCIP, RPP, Partner, is proud to be working alongside Sunray Group as the project planner on the newly unveiled Marriott Hotel development on Beach Drive, this is an exciting first phase in a larger, multi-phased vision to transform the waterfront into a vibrant, year-round destination.
A Zoning By-law Amendment has been submitted to facilitate the development on the lands which includes the provision for the 8-storey hotel structure. There was a public meeting held in April to discuss the re-zoning with Town Council and the public.
As the first step in a larger waterfront redevelopment, this project sets the tone for future phases bringing enhanced amenities, increased tourism opportunities, and a dynamic new destination to Wasaga Beach.

ANOTHER COMMUNITY BUILT
Hewitt’s Gate East Residential subdivision bounded by Mapleview Drive East, Prince William Way, and Hewitt’s Creek has been granted assuming by the City of Barrie for the initial phases of the community.
These initial phases deliver 378 residential units, including a diverse mix of:
• Single detached homes
• Townhomes
• Back-to-back Townhomes
• Multi-unit residential blocks
All supported by full municipal services
The Jones Consulting Group provided both Planning and Civil Engineering services, supporting the project from approvals through construction, including:
• Zoning
• Official Plan Amendment ( OPA)
• Draft Plan Approval ( DPA)
• Project Management
• Civil Design
• Contract Administration & Inspection
From policy to pavement it’s rewarding to see this community take shape and to reach this important stage.

🚧 Progress in Motion 🚧
Site Plan Servicing is well underway for a 122-unit, 7 storey residential apartment featuring a mix of market-driven and affordable housing.
• Site preparation Complete
• Storm & Sanitary sewers installed
• Watermain in place
• Parking lot nearing completion to base asphalt
Building structure construction is scheduled to start in early 2026
Through the City’s Concierge Program, approvals were granted and services were installed in just 6.5 months from initial Site Plan Submission! A testament to strong collaboration and efficient coordination.
The Jones Consulting Group delivered both Planning and Civil Engineering services, including, Site Plan Approval, Project Management, Civil Design, and Contract Administration & Inspection.
From concept to construction this project reflects what is possible though strong team collaboration.

Landmark Development Proposed Along Bradford Street
A rezoning application has been submitted for a project that will help transform Bradford Street. The project is located at 145 Bradford Street and 48 Ellen Street, featuring five residential towers ranging in height from 51 to 61 stories, the development includes the following:
1,434 market residential units
359 affordable rental housing units.
10 story- 80 unit hotel with restaurant. The hotel is located on the top floors of one of the 51 storey towers.
Ground floor commercial uses along Bradford Street.
A neighbourhood meeting was held in September 2025, and a public meeting will be scheduled for this spring to give residents an opportunity to learn more and share feedback.

The Jones Consulting Group Ltd traded engineering drawings and planning meetings for dinner and bowling. 🎳🎳

The night kicked off at Bâton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar, where we all enjoyed the delicious food along with lots of laughs and conversation.

Then it was off to the bowling lanes at Bowlerama where things got competitive! A special shoutout to Jon, who was absolutely on fire getting strikes all night long, let's just say his precision is not just limited to engineering. 🔥🎳
