The Jones Consulting Group Ltd., represented by Brandi L. Clement, AICP, MCIP, RPP, Partner and Amanda Newlove, BURPl, MCIP, RPP, Senior Planner, are working with Dunsire Properties Inc. as the project planners for a purpose-built rental residential development at 750 Mapleview Drive East in the City of Barrie.

On June 17th, the Statutory Public Meeting was held with the Affordability Committee regarding the submitted Zoning By-law Amendment application supporting this development. The application seeks to facilitate a thoughtfully designed apartment community that would transform the existing lands into a modern residential development, intended to meet growing housing needs.

The proposal includes two 6-storey residential buildings, each featuring 62 rental units, creating a total of 124 units, as well as a 2-storey parking structure. The units are planned with an even mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. The exterior design of the buildings has been designed with a mix of materials to create a visually appealing look that complements the surrounding neighborhood and landscape.

Exciting things are happening in Downtown Barrie, and The Jones Consulting Group Ltd. is proud to be a part of this next chapter, acting as the Project Civil Engineer and Project Land Use Planner.

A Site Plan Application has been submitted for 155 Dunlop street West and the North part of 40 Bradford Street, the future site of a new professional soccer stadium, which was announced to the public on July 14, 2026.

The City of Barrie, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), MLS NEXT Pro, and The Barrie Stadium Group have come together to bring Professional soccer to the heart of Downtown Barrie.

This will be more than just a soccer stadium. The new 3,500-seat venue is envisioned as a vibrant community destination hosting:

🎉 Festivals and community events

🏙️ A new destination for residents and visitors in downtown Barrie
This project will create new opportunities, attract residents and tourists to downtown, support local businesses, and contribute to the continued growth and vibrancy of Barrie.

We are thrilled to have Joseph joining our team of Planners. He brings over 10 years of experience in urban planning, arboriculture, and property management. Joseph adds a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our growing team.

Joseph holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Toronto Metropolitan University, a Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning from Mohawk College, and a Certificate in Urban Forestry and Arboriculture from Fleming College.
We are excited about the experience, insight, and enthusiasm Joseph will bring to our projects and clients.

On April 22, Barrie City Hall hosted a public meeting regarding the proposed rezoning of 145 Bradford Street and 48 Ellen Street, a project that could help reshape the city’s downtown core. On April 27th a Site Plan Application was submitted to the city.
Phase one of this development will include the construction of the 11-floor podium and 40-storey point tower containing a hotel, restaurant, as well as the 359 affordable residential units. Integrated indoor parking and waste collection with the building podium to create a cleaner and more pedestrian friendly streetscape.

The project’s modern design aims to maximize functionality while improving the overall look and feel of the area. By placing the parking and service elements inside the structure, the development creates more opportunities for attractive landscaping, public-facing spaces and a stronger street presence. The long term vision is to help transform Bradford Street into a vibrant destination and create a landmark development that reflects the future growth of Barrie.

This week marked the 39th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Barrie Fun Run. Once again, The Jones Consulting Group Ltd. team was proud to take part in this incredible community event.
It was wonderful to see hundreds of community members come together to participate, support one another, and enjoy the day. To top it all off, we could not have asked for better weather!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Rotary Club of Barrie Fun Run another memorable success. We are already looking forward to next year.

Big things are happening in Wasaga Beach

The Jones Consulting Group Ltd., Brandi L. Clement, AICP, MCIP, RPP, Partner, is proud to be working alongside Sunray Group as the project planner on the newly unveiled Marriott Hotel development on Beach Drive, this is an exciting first phase in a larger, multi-phased vision to transform the waterfront into a vibrant, year-round destination.
A Zoning By-law Amendment has been submitted to facilitate the development on the lands which includes the provision for the 8-storey hotel structure. There was a public meeting held in April to discuss the re-zoning with Town Council and the public.
As the first step in a larger waterfront redevelopment, this project sets the tone for future phases bringing enhanced amenities, increased tourism opportunities, and a dynamic new destination to Wasaga Beach.
