Canada Introduces New Counter-Tariffs on U.S. Products

Effective September 8, 2026, Canada is imposing counter-tariffs of 15%, 25%, and 50% on certain U.S. products, with rates matching corresponding U.S. tariffs.

Who Can Enrol in the RPP Sub-program?

Commercial importers can enrol in the Release Prior to Payment (RPP) sub-program through the CARM Client Portal.

To benefit from RPP, importers must:
• Register in the CARM Client Portal
• Enrol in RPP
• Post the required financial security

Since October 21, 2024, importers must provide their own financial security. Customs brokers cannot post security on behalf of importer clients.
