I would like to wish a Happy May Day and thank you to all the hard workers out there! ๐Ÿ’ช

On this day of recognition, I encourage you to take some time to review your collective agreements or employment contracts to ensure that life insurance, disability, and health benefits are clearly defined and provided to you, not just promised. Also, the need for insurance coverage for mental health conditions as occupational diseases has never been more relevant. โœจ

For a free consultation on how I can help ensure that you are prepared for all that life that throws at you, please do not hesitate to DM me or call/text ๐Ÿ“ฒ902-307-4949. Remember: your safety, health, and well-being are what matter the most during your work day. ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Are you or a loved one living with a disability? This often entails significant, ongoing financial burdens, commonly referred to as the "disability tax" for the extra costs of living that those with disabilities face. These expenses can range from thousands to tens of thousands of dollars annually, encompassing the following:

- high out-of-pocket medical costs โš•
- necessary accessibility adaptations โ™ฟ
- transportation barriers ๐Ÿ›ค
- reduced earning capacity ๐Ÿซฐ
- legal and professional fees โš–

Thankfully, our federal government recognized these disparities and introduced the "Disability Tax Credit" (DTC) some forty years ago, yet not all Canadians living with a disability know about this. Find out if you qualify by visiting the CRA website below. If so, you very well be able to claim it going back up to ten years on your taxes. ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Contact me directly to book an appointment, if you or your loved one qualify or have qualified already. I am a professional advocate who strives to help people earn every dollar they deserve and explore other options, as everyone has their own unique financial journey. โœจ

The disability tax credit (DTC) is a non-refundable tax credit that helps people with impairments, or a supporting family member, reduce the amount of income tax they may have to pay.

I must say that I feel very optimistic about our modern generation of teenagers, known by many as Gen Z and by some as Gen Alpha. They are predicted to be the most educated and technologically advanced generation in human history. As the great Eddie Vedder once wrote, "It's evolution, baby!"

One thing I'm realizing more and more as I have conversations with these bright young men and women is that they're smart with money. They realize that times are tough, with the rising cost of living and inflation, so saving and spending wisely are mandatory for them.

They know that there are much better ways to invest their money than parking it in a very low-interest savings account in a bank. To save for college or university, RESPs make the most sense as they grow tax-free and qualify for government grants like the CESG and CLB, which can significantly boost these savings. Add the power of compound interest to that by investing it in segregated funds.

To get an idea of how much you can save for you or your teenager's post-secondary education, check out our RESP calculator. You may be surprised by how little you have to save to ease stress levels in those formative years, when the last thing you should be worried about as a student or their parent/guardian is money.

The Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) allows you to build up tax-deferred savings for a childโ€™s postsecondary education.
