As predicted, The BoC has lowered the overnight rate by 0.50%. This is the bank’s fourth consecutive rate cut since June.

GREAT NEWS!!!

The federal government has announced they are extending 30-year amortization periods to first-time homebuyers. This expansion builds on the government’s announcement earlier this year to offer 30-year amortizations exclusively for new builds.

A welcome change, this will help ease the financial burden for younger buyers, allowing them to spread payments over a longer period, thus reducing monthly costs.

These changes come into effect December 15, 2024.
