National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families and their communities.
We remember the children who never returned home and acknowledge the lasting harm carried across generations.
Truth and reconciliation require more than remembrance on one day. They ask us to listen, to learn and to recognize the experiences that were silenced or ignored for far too long.
May we carry what we learn beyond today—and allow it to shape how we treat one another, how we understand our shared history and how we move forward together.

Meet Life Planner Janice Milne
Some people may know her on social media as MrsPeriwinkle. Her clients know her as someone they can turn to when they need help understanding what comes next.
Janice works in logistics within the healthcare environment while also buying and selling different products for extra income. She became a Life Planner after recognizing how important it is for families to be prepared.
“We don’t know when something will happen to us or to someone we love. When someone passes away, the family is already grieving—and sometimes they don’t know what to do next.”
That understanding became very real when one of Janice’s clients, who had purchased a funeral plan through her, later passed away.
Because the plan was already in place, Janice was able to help his family with the paperwork, explain the process and answer their questions during an already difficult time.
When the family thanked her for being there, it touched her deeply.
The experience reminded Janice that helping a family is not only about the financial arrangements. It can mean making a confusing process easier, offering reassurance or simply being present when even the smallest decisions feel overwhelming.

A Petal for Someone We Remember
When Rose Plaza was introduced, we invited each person to think of a family member they had lost.
Then we asked them to place one rose petal in that person’s memory.
One petal.
Such a small gesture for a life that meant so much.
Each petal carried a different name, a different story and a love that had not disappeared simply because someone was no longer physically present.
Together, the petals became something more.
They became a reminder that Rose Plaza is not being created only as a place for cremated remains.
It is being created as a place where families can return, remember and continue the stories of the people who helped shape their lives.
Perhaps that is what remembrance asks of us.
Not to hold on to every moment exactly as it was, but to carry its meaning forward.
A petal may eventually fall.
But the love it represented remains.
