Driving the Future Beyond Mining

On the 28th May 2026, SPEDU Acting CEO Mr. Othata Batsetswe participated in the Northern Mining Summit, where he shared insights on Post-Mining Regional Integration, Market Access, and Business Development as critical pillars for sustainable economic transformation.

His message was clear: mining must serve as a catalyst for broader economic growth by creating stronger linkages between local businesses, regional markets, and emerging industries. Through strategic partnerships, value addition, entrepreneurship, and investment attraction, mining regions can transition into vibrant and diversified economic hubs.

At SPEDU, we remain committed to unlocking new opportunities that create jobs, attract investment, and position the region for long-term prosperity beyond the life of the mine.

Boitumelo Primary School PSLE Victory Celebration

Boitumelo Primary School held its Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) victory celebration for the 100% pass rate achieved by their 2025 PSLE candidates. Remarkably the school emerged number 1 nationally! The momentous occasion aimed at recognizing and celebrating the dedication and outstanding achievement of the learners, teachers, parents and all stakeholders.

In his welcome remarks, the School Head Mr. M. W. Masoja called all stakeholders to join in the jubilation of this remarkable milestone. He proclaimed his utmost gratitude to the ambitious teachers and students who tirelessly toiled with one goal in mind - to emerge champions! Mr. Masoja extended his special appreciation to the parents who relentlessly offered their unwavering support to the school during examination time. Finally he urged all to maintain the momentum to ensure the trophy remains home.

The SPEDU Acting CEO, Mr. Othata Batsetswe who served as a Guest Speaker lamented his pride for Selebi Phikwe for itโ€™s culture of being the renowned hub of academic excellence, the status that has spun for decades. He hailed schools for their zeal amidst resource constraints. Mr Batsetswe noted with concern that in this era of technology, the School Head cited non connectivity of the internet in the school which hinders progress in promptly accessing information. He then pledged to source a sponsor for the connectivity in the school to remedy the situation.

The event ended with prizes awarded to well deserving best performers as a token of appreciation for their outstanding achievements.
