The Botswana Accountancy Oversight Authority was established through the Financial Reporting Act, 2010 with the principal objective of providing oversight to accounting and auditing services and to promote Standard, Quality and Credibility of providing financial and non-financial information by entities, including public interest entities.

Botswana Stock Exchange Limited Listings Requirements Refresher Workshop

The Botswana Accountancy Oversight Authority's Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ms Ephifania Nkanga FCCA, FCPA, BAcc participated as a panelist at the recent Botswana Stock Exchange Limited Listings Requirements Refresher Workshop held on 20 August 2026, where she shared insights and perspectives during a discussion on Building Resilient Listed Companies: Governance, Innovation and Sustainable Value Creation'.

She emphasised the Authority's strategic role as the custodian of Financial Reporting, noting that high-quality financial reporting is underpinned by a broader financial reporting ecosystem, comprising management, boards and audit committees, external auditors, and regulators. While each participant has a distinct responsibility, the effectiveness of the system and ultimately investor confidence depends on how well these roles operate collectively.
