Botswana Savings and Credit Cooperative Association joined the Bank of Botswana SACCOs, a SACCO serving employees of the Botswana Reserve Bank, both active and retired members,as it held its Annual General Meeting, in Gaborone at the Bank of Botswana Headquarters, with the BOSCCA CEO,Mrs Kefilwe Masalila (ADE, AADE, CUDE), serving as the Guest Speaker.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Bank of Botswana SACCOs for reaching an outstanding milestone — over 31 years of operation since 1994. This achievement reflects strong leadership, committed membership and the enduring value of the SACCOs model in advancing financial wellbeing and shared prosperity. BOB SACCOs continues to stand as a testament to what members can build when they take collective responsibility for their financial wellbeing.

In her address, BOSCCA CEO placed strong emphasis on the future of the SACCO movement, particularly the critical role of youth participation. She highlighted that while many SACCOs are successfully attracting young members, there remains a gap in their involvement in leadership and governance. For the cooperative movement to remain sustainable and relevant, young people must not only join SACCOS, but actively participate, contribute ideas and take up leadership roles.

She further stressed the importance of diversity within boards, calling for intentional inclusion of young professionals. As well as extension of common bonds to include others like the family members of the SACCO members. She encouraged the SACCO to ensure member education and training on the SACCO philosophy becomes one of its key priorities.

BOSCCA remains committed to developing and strengthening the SACCO sector in Botswana. Through advocacy, training and technical assistance,Our focus remains on building modern, resilient and inclusive cooperatives, with strong governance and empowered membership at the core.

We continue to work closely with stakeholders and regulators to create an enabling environment for SACCOs to thrive in Botswana.

Once again, congratulations to Bank of Botswana SACCOs on 31 remarkable years of service. BOSCCA is proud to walk this journey with you as we continue building a stronger, more inclusive SACCO movement for Botswana.
