Over the weekend, we were proud to attend and support the 4th Edition of the National Student Summit 2026 Botswana’s biggest student platform focused on empowering the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers.

We remain committed to supporting platforms that inspire growth, leadership, and innovation among Botswana’s youth. We also believe the future belongs to young people who are ready to navigate risk, embrace complexity, and unlock opportunities in an ever-changing world.

At the just ended 4th Corporate Governance Training 2026, our Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ndiye Letsholathebe led a thought-provoking panel discussion on:
“Where were the Directors? Lessons from Recent Boardroom Failures.”

The conversation unpacked the growing importance of ethical leadership, strong corporate governance and future-focused boardroom strategies in an era shaped by sustainability demands, digital disruption and rapidly evolving risks.

Key reflections from the discussion included:

-Boards must drive long-term sustainability and competitiveness
-Failure to innovate reflects a breakdown in board governance and strategic oversight. Governance is ultimately about prudently steering organisations into the future.
-Board composition, executive incentives and stakeholder engagement must evolve with modern challenges
-Organisations need governance frameworks and protocols that guide ethical decision-making during crises
-Current governance structures must not only focus on protecting the legacy business, but must empower leadership to build the next one.
-Strong leadership should never silence dissenting voices or promote loyalty over accountability
-Managers must protect the interests of the company, not individuals
-Reverse order protocol, innovation strategies and board rotation are critical for progressive governance

At Sesiro, we believe resilient organisations are built on accountable leadership, ethical governance and the courage to challenge outdated ways of thinking.

We are proud to sponsor the 4th Edition of the National Student Summit 2026, Botswana’s biggest student platform dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders, innovators and change-makers.

As a proudly indigenous insurer, we believe the future belongs to young people who are prepared to navigate risk, embrace complexity and unlock opportunity in an unpredictable world.

We are proud to officially welcome Sesiro Insurance Company as a sponsor of the National Student Summit 2026.

In a time where the future is uncertain and the world is rapidly evolving, it takes visionary institutions to step forward and invest in the next generation. SESIRO has done exactly that.

Their support is not just sponsorship, it is a commitment to empowering over 2,600 students who will gather under one roof to engage in powerful conversations, challenge ideas, and prepare themselves for a complex and opportunity-filled future.

As a brand that understands risk, protection, and long-term thinking, SESIRO’s presence at the summit aligns perfectly with this year’s theme:
“Education in an Age of Uncertainty: Preparing Students for Risk, Complexity & Opportunity in an Unpredictable World.”

Through this partnership, SESIRO continues to position itself not just as an insurance provider, but as a thought leader shaping the future of Botswana.

This is what leadership looks like.

Special thanks to SESIRO for being part of the room shaping the future.

We are proud to have our CEO, Mr Ndiye Letsholathebe, serving as Moderator at the Corporate Governance Training 2026 under the theme: “Cultivating Ethical Leadership in Promoting Corporate Governance in a VUCA Era.”

As organisations navigate increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity, ethical leadership and strong governance remain critical in building resilient, accountable and future-ready institutions.
We are honoured to contribute to these important conversations shaping the future of corporate governance in Botswana.

As Botswana accelerates toward the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), businesses are being urged to balance innovation with resilience to avoid exposing themselves to growing operational and cyber-related risks.

Speaking during a panel discussion at the just ended Botswana Local Manufacturing Summit 2026, our Underwriting Manager & Principal Officer, Mr. Owen Motswetla, highlighted that while technology is transforming manufacturing and key industries through automation, artificial intelligence, robotics and digital systems, it is also exposing businesses to increasing cyber threats, machinery breakdowns and operational disruptions, reinforcing the urgent need for organisations to mitigate against cyber exposure and technology-related risks.

He further noted that businesses embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution must strengthen:
• Cyber resilience
• Business continuity planning
• Workforce upskilling
• Operational risk management
• Asset and supply chain protection

“More technology means more cyber exposure. Digital transformation is no longer just an IT conversation. It is a business continuity, governance and productivity conversation. Every company should seriously consider cyber liability cover as part of its risk management strategy.” he highlighted.
