We’re excited to share an important milestone from our portfolio company Pluggy, which has raised US$3.5 million in its Series A round, led by DGF, with participation from Y Combinator and B Venture Capital.

Pluggy is building the infrastructure connecting financial institutions with the software businesses already use every day, enabling a more integrated and interoperable financial ecosystem through Open Finance and embedded financial services.

Today, the company connects nearly 500,000 CNPJs and serves around 600 direct clients across ERPs, accounting systems, and financial platforms.

This new capital will support Pluggy’s next phase of growth, expanding the range of financial products embedded directly into the platforms businesses use in their daily operations.

At BVC, we’re proud to continue supporting Rogério Correa, Bruno Loiola, Gabriel Gantes, Victor Braga, and the entire Pluggy team as they build a more connected and efficient financial infrastructure in Brazil.

Congratulations to the Pluggy team and everyone involved in this new chapter! 👏

This month, BVC joined Pitch Reverso, an event organized by Startups at the Databricks office in São Paulo, where the traditional pitching dynamic was turned around: this time, six investment funds with open opportunities pitched to startups.

Representing BVC, Isabela Berdu presented our investment approach and shared more about what we look for in founders and companies. At BVC, we focus on early-stage startups across Latin America, looking for ambitious teams building scalable businesses and supporting them beyond capital throughout their growth journey.

Events like Pitch Reverso are a great opportunity to bring more transparency to the fundraising process, helping founders better understand how different investors think, what they look for, and which funds are the best fit for their journey.

Thank you to Startups, Databricks and Microsoft for bringing the ecosystem together and creating this space for founders and investors to connect from a different perspective.

New investment: welcome to the B Venture Capital portfolio, Platam! 🇨🇴

We’re excited to back Platam, a Colombian fintech building embedded lending solutions for SMBs across Latin America.

Access to financing remains a challenge for millions of businesses in the region. Platam is making it easier for SMBs to access working capital through the platforms and tools they already use.

In just six months, Platam has grown its portfolio more than 3x while maintaining strong credit quality and increasing disbursement volumes.

We’re proud to partner with Nicolás Villa (CEO), Rodrigo Mariño, CFA (Co-founder), and Richard Sewards (CTO) as they continue building Platam.

Welcome to B Venture Capital, Platam!

If you’d like to connect with the team, feel free to reach out. We’d be happy to make an introduction.

“If the company isn’t growing, there’s no reason to raise from VC. You don’t even need to make the deck.”

This sharp takeaway from Marcelo Merichello, Analyst at DGF, highlights a reality founders often overlook: venture capital only makes sense when there is a clear engine and reason for growth.

In the latest Fala, VC! episode, Marcelo shares what DGF looks for in Series A companies and the mistakes that can make investors step away.

Here are the top 3 insights:

1️⃣ Don’t Raise Just Because You Can: “Raise when you know why you’re raising.” A company performing well doesn’t automatically need external capital. Founders should have a clear use of funds and raise while the operation is healthy, not when cash is already running out.

2️⃣ Raise What You Need, Not What You Can: “Fundraising is the art of doing as much as possible with as little as possible.” Oversized rounds can create unnecessary dilution, inflate valuations and make the next round harder. Capital should enter the company in stages that match its actual growth plan.

3️⃣ AI Has to Make Economic Sense: “You can’t kill an ant with a bazooka if the unit economics don’t work.” For Marcelo, adding AI isn’t enough. The real question is whether it creates measurable customer value while keeping the business scalable and economically sustainable.

Thank you, Marcelo, for such a practical conversation on fundraising, growth and what investors actually look for beyond the pitch.
