The Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) is pleased to announce a high-level virtual roundtable under its regulatory capacity building programme, focusing on “fit and proper criteria for Islamic financial institutions” intended to discuss the challenges faced by the Islamic finance industry in identifying and appointing fit and proper individuals at the board and senior management levels.
The session will provide an opportunity to obtain feedback from regulators regarding their expectations, regulatory requirements and the availability of suitably qualified individuals within their respective jurisdictions. The Secretary General of AAOIFI will also present the key initiatives, studies and ongoing work undertaken by AAOIFI in relation to this important issue.
Given the strategic importance of the topic and its implications for governance across the industry, the discussion is expected to be of a high technical standard. Accordingly, heads of the relevant departments and senior management are being invited to participate in the roundtable and contribute to the deliberations.
Participants will benefit from a policy-level dialogue addressing key elements of effective board composition, fiduciary responsibilities, and Shari’ah governance awareness—while exchanging insights with global experts and peers.
📅 Date: Monday, 8 June 2026
🕐 Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM (GMT+3)
💻 Format: Virtual (Zoom)
We look forward to the participation of regulatory authorities in this important discussion.
