Fantastic day at the Low Carbon Agriculture show , co-located with LAMMA Show and CropTec!

Our team had a brilliant time connecting with farmers new to the Soil Capital programme and those already on the journey with us. From stakeholders to suppliers, the consensus is clear: everyone is looking to better understand how carbon markets can truly work for them.

Key takeaway? Making regenerative agriculture profitable is the future of farming "beyond carbon." 🌍✨

The packed theatre of eager faces proved the sheer scale of UK agriculture!

Regenerative agriculture is profitable and possible👇

That’s the mission Soil Capital Agronomists have drove forward, across the Uk connecting farmers who have implemented 🌿 Regen practices, to farmers who are curious about learning more.

We hosted three farm visits on ambassadors’ farms to discuss making regenerative practices pay and to explore agri-tech like autonomous cover-crop mowing.

Simultaneously, we gained valuable insight into a well-rounded regenerative system, showcasing:

👉 Extensive agroforestry with a massive range of tree species.

👉 Practical steps like making compost tea and using rainwater harvesting.

👉 Diversified enterprises, from mob-grazing plans to free-range chickens.

We also reinforced the vital role of multi-stakeholder collaboration (like the Devil and Chesel Farmer Cluster Group) in tackling challenges like water quality. The future of farming is resilient, diversified, and collaborative!

👨‍🌾 What specific, game-changing practices define an innovative potato farmer today?

Meet Romain Crete, a farmer in Northern France who proves that regenerative agriculture is not about rigid rules—it’s about continuous, informed innovation that drives his transition.

👉🏼Using legume-dominant cover crops (up to 80% legumes) to cut reliance on mineral inputs.
👉🏼Eliminating winter ploughing between wheat and potatoes.
👉🏼Prioritizing compost first to build long-term organic matter and soil health.

Romain’s advice to his neighboring farmers is clear: “Don’t wait until nitrogen costs double... adapt now.”

Farmer Recruitment Event Recap🌱

A massive thank you to one of our farmers, James Bucher, for showing us his whole regenerative system. It was fascinating to see his unique approach and how he is making things work.

Key takeaways from the walk:

👉Compost tea fertiliser: Making his own highly efficient, microbe-rich compost tea (powered only by collected rainwater!).

👉Efficient spraying: Harvesting rainwater to boost spray efficacy, leading to reduced glyphosate usage.

👉Agroforestry masterclass: Touring his 13Ha North-South alley cropping system, interplanted with cover crops and herbal leys. A fantastic example of productive diversity!

👉Circular economy in action: Working with the local bakery to make the 'Knettishall Loaf' and giving them his chicken eggs!

Thank you everyone for coming and James for hosting us; it was great to see farmers exchanging ideas and engaging in the regen transition.

Food security is under pressure like never before...

marks 80 years of service, this , and urgency around food security has never been greater!

We’re still relying on systems that degrade soils and undermine our long-term ability to feed ourselves. But there is a path forward.

Soil Capital is uniting of private and public partners to scale Regen Ag practices that…

👉 Strengthen food system resilience
👉 Align with climate action goals
👉 Empower farmers at the ground level

🌱 We brought the conversation on regenerative agriculture to the . Public and private leaders discussed how to fund farmers’ regenerative transition and fairly reward their risk.

Our key message was clear: To truly accelerate investment, we must pool public sector payments and private value chain payments toward the same sustainability objectives, using shared, outcome-based language to define and reward positive impact.

🎯 Want a seat at the table? Soil Capital is driving this crucial conversation across the entire food and agriculture sector, from public to private.

🌱 How can public and private funding accelerate regenerative agriculture for EU farmers?

Last Week, Andrew Voysey and MEP Elsi Katainen, agricultural lead for Renew Europe and co-chair of MEP Group on ‘Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development’, hosted an insightful discussion at the European Parliament around this question.

Joined by Gaelle MARION of DG AGRI, Romuald - Ton Pote Agri bringing the farmer perspective, Bart Vandewaetere of Nestlé and Melanie Muro of Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) .
