Greenyard Logistics Poland has taken a significant step towards more sustainable operations by installing almost 4 000 solar panels across its site.

With a total capacity of almost 2 000 kW, the new installation now meets around 20% of the site’s electricity demand through renewable energy sources.

The impact is already visible. Since becoming operational, the solar panels have helped to avoid 225 tonnes of CO₂ emissions and saved the equivalent of 189 tonnes of standard coal.

This is a tangible investment in using resources more efficiently and reducing the environmental footprint of our operations.

After all, building a healthier future also means continuously improving how we operate.

From a bold idea to one of Europe’s largest food production sites. 🌱

Over 50 years ago, Jan Spaas brought together a group of local growers with a simple ambition: to grow and preserve quality regional vegetables. This became the starting point of Noliko, which is now Greenyard Prepared Bree (Belgium).

What followed was a period of continued entrepreneurship. Under Hein Deprez's leadership, Noliko became part of the journey that ultimately shaped our Prepared division.

Today, Greenyard Prepared Bree has grown to approximately 1 000 colleagues and operates one of Europe’s largest single-site preserved vegetable facilities.

During Jan’s recent visit to Bree, he and Hein reflected on this evolution, as well as on the things that have remained constant throughout the decades: passionate growers, dedicated colleagues, entrepreneurial spirit and an ongoing commitment to quality and innovation.

As Hein put it perfectly: “The seed Jan planted here has grown into a big tree.”

Supporting growers through the dry period 💧🌱

Greenyard Frozen Belgium has made the purified water produced by its operations available to local growers for use in irrigating their crops.

By converting an unused basin into a collection point, we can put treated water to good use while helping growers to cope with increasing water scarcity. In the first few days alone, over 300 000 litres were collected by several growers.

Alongside the water, our teams are providing guidance on how it can be used safely and responsibly for different crops.

This is a practical example of circularity in action, making smarter use of the resources already available while supporting growers at the heart of our food chain.

A strong safety culture starts with people. 💚

Recently, more than 200 colleagues came together at Greenyard Frozen Lipno for our annual Health & Safety Day, which is dedicated to learning, sharing, and strengthening our safety culture.

Through interactive workshops, practical training and hands-on demonstrations, colleagues explored a range of topics, including first aid, fire safety, stress management, self-defence, and the safe use of chemicals. This year also saw the beginning of a meaningful partnership with DKMS, which gave employees the chance to register as potential stem cell donors and offer hope to those battling blood cancer.

The record attendance speaks for itself. Safety isn't a one-day event or a single initiative; it's a mindset that we develop together every day.

After all, taking care of each other is an essential part of building a healthier future.

In the spotlight today: Alara in Turkey

As one of the largest cherry growers in Turkey, Alara combines size with expertise. With 202 hectares of farmland, a dedicated packing facility and a network of over 3 000 cherry growers and 175 fig growers, they can provide a reliable, long-term supply of high-quality fruit.

However, it's not just about the quantity of fruit produced; it's also about how it is grown.

Alara invests in food safety, water management and green energy, while supporting growers through training and strict quality standards. Advanced technologies help to guarantee consistent premium quality, from the orchard to the packaging line.

Together, we are building a strong, integrated value chain to ensure that nutritious fruit remains available, accessible and sustainable for consumers across Europe.

What if waste energy could be converted into valuable energy? 🌱
At Greenyard Prepared Bree (Belgium), it already is.

Our new 'Blue Tower' heat recovery installation for steam peelers captures steam that was previously lost and reuses it elsewhere in the production process. The steam peeler removes potato skins using high-pressure steam. During each two-minute cycle, a powerful burst of steam is released for around ten seconds.

In conventional installations, most of that energy disappears through a chimney stack: too contaminated, too intermittent, and too powerful for traditional heat recovery systems to efficiently reuse the heat.

This innovation has a significant impact: it saves around 157 000 m³ of natural gas and reduces CO₂ emissions by 328 tonnes every year, the equivalent of taking 180 passenger cars off the road for a year.

After all, shaping the future of pure-plant food means making every resource count.

Who doesn’t love gelato? Kids certainly do. 🍦

Gigi Gelato partnered with Immaculata Ieper for an interactive tasting workshop with our delicious and colourful gelato range based on fruits and veggies. Students were encouraged to explore food through all their senses: looking, smelling, tasting and identifying flavours.

From kiwi and spinach to beetroot and passion fruit, the workshop challenged students to recognise ingredients, describe flavours and think differently about food, all in an engaging and educational setting.

A big thank you to everyone involved for bringing this creative initiative to life. At Greenyard, we believe that helping younger generations discover the taste of fruit and vegetables in positive and accessible ways can make a real difference. 🌱
