With only 1 day left before the French e-invoicing mandate takes effect, let's look directly at the risk of ignoring the new rules starting tomorrow. ⚠️

The Finance Act 2026 significantly increased the financial penalties for failing to comply with the e-invoicing architecture:
• The fine for a non-compliant or omitted e-invoice has risen to €50 per invoice (up from the previously planned €15).
• The fine for non-compliance with e-reporting has doubled to €500 per transmission (up from €250).

Beyond statutory government fines, attempting to process transactions outside an accredited Plateforme Agréée (PA) can result in blocked vendor payments, major workflow disruptions, and immediate tax audits. The law does provide a 3-month grace period to correct platform routing after receiving an official notice, but the best approach is to be secure from Day 1.

The countdown to the French mandate is officially on, and the focus is shifting from regulations to ex*****on. 🇫🇷⚡

With the legal framework set, launch readiness comes down to three operational pillars:

🎯 Master Data is Your Weakest Link
- In an automated tax clearance network, there is no buffer for bad data. If client SIREN/SIRET numbers or VAT registry links are missing, invoices won't just sit in review, they will bounce instantly.

📊 Expanded E-Reporting Scope
- Compliance isn't limited to domestic B2B invoices. Established organizations must also activate data streams for B2C sales taxable in France and cross-border B2B operations.

💸 Avoid financial penalties
- The updated rules raise the financial stakes for errors or missing transmissions, with fines set at €50 per invoice for e-invoicing failures and €500 per transmission for e-reporting errors (both capped at €15,000 per year).

Working with clients near the French border? 🇫🇷

With the French e-invoicing mandate kicking off this September, many Belgian entrepreneurs are starting to panic. They’re asking: Do we need a French platform? Are our PDFs suddenly illegal?
Spoiler alert: No. ❌

Unless your client has a French branch or a French VAT number, they do not fall under the mandate. It is business as usual. However, French partners might still put on the pressure due to their own new administrative burdens.

Don’t let French partners pressure your Belgian clients into unnecessary admin.

Want to give your clients complete peace of mind?

Factur-X, UBL, CII... feeling lost in the alphabet soup of electronic invoice formats? 🔤

The French mandate dictates that electronic invoices cannot simply be regular, flat images or plain text files. They must adhere strictly to one of three officially approved structured syntaxes to ensure automated systems can read them error-free.

The most popular option for many businesses is Factur-X, a hybrid layout that gives your accounting team a standard visual invoice while providing the underlying system with clean data. No matter which format your clients or vendors prefer, a smart platform translates them seamlessly without forcing you to overhaul your current internal ERP structure.

🇫🇷 The French mandate is getting closer.

With September 1st fast approaching, there is a lot of noise around what is actually required. In this part of our countdown series, we break down the fundamental rules regarding who needs to be ready to receive invoices, why standard PDFs are a thing of the past, and the official new terminology you need to know.

Ensure your business covers the basics before the deadline hits!
📥 Be receive-ready: While only large/mid-sized established firms must issue invoices starting September 1st, ALL VAT-registered businesses established in France must be able to receive them.
❌ Simple email attachments are dead: For large and mid-sized companies, plain PDFs by email stop being valid on September 1st, 2026.
🔄 Lock in the new vocabulary: Make sure your team is talking to vendors using the correct legal

The countdown has officially begun! ⏳

Exactly one month remains until the French e-invoicing mandate goes live on September 1, 2026.

This is no longer a distant regulatory topic, the Finance Act 2026 (LF 2026) is fully enacted, and the timeline is locked. From Day 1, every single VAT-registered business in France must be legally capable of receiving electronic invoices through approved infrastructure. 🚀

Over the next few weeks, we will break down the essential rules to ensure your workflows remain fully compliant.

💡 Treating an e-invoice like a traditional PDF emailed to a client is the fastest way to miss out on the true value of the Peppol mandate.

True e-invoicing (structured UBL/XML data) is built for machine-to-machine communication. When done right, it bypasses human intervention entirely, validating data, tracking delivery receipts, and running bank reconciliation on autopilot. 🔄

Is your business using e-invoicing as a passive mailbox or an automation engine? ⚡
