𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗸 𝘃𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗷 𝗱𝗲 𝗸𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗸𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗸𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗽. In Leuven-Noord krijgt het Vuntcomplex een compacte en groene upgrade. In opdracht van Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer werkt Sweco mee aan de herinrichting van aansluitingscomplex nr. 20 van de E314, ter hoogte van de Aarschotsesteenweg en Kesseldallaan.

🚴💧🌳 Ons ontwerp zorgt voor een vlottere ontsluiting voor het toekomstige Wetenschapspark Noord, conflictvrije fietspaden, een opvallende fietscanyon en extra ruimte voor water, bomen en natuur.

🤝 Dank aan AWV, Infrabel, Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij, Provincie Vlaams-Brabant, Natuur en Bos en Stad Leuven voor de constructieve samenwerking.

𝗩𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻, 𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀. Dat bewijst de herinrichting van de N6 in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. Samen met Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer, Aquafin en de gemeente Gemeente Sint-Pieters-Leeuw werkt Sweco aan een evenwichtige heraanleg die verkeersveiligheid, doorstroming, leefbaarheid en klimaatadaptief waterbeheer met elkaar verbindt.

🚲🚌 Over 2,5 kilometer maakt de Bergensesteenweg plaats voor een veiliger en leesbaarder wegprofiel, met afgescheiden fietspaden, aparte busbanen, bredere voetpaden, veilige oversteken en een betere ontsluiting voor bewoners, handelaars en weggebruikers.

💧 Ondergronds krijgt de N6 infrastructuur die klaar is voor morgen: met waterbuffering, gescheiden riolering en directional drilling. Een sterk staaltje geïntegreerde engineering.

Designing coastal resilience in Ostend 🌊
Preparing a port area for a 1-in-1,000-year storm.
And for a future sea level rise of +1 metre.

The flood protection measures for the back port of Ostend are part of a long-term, integrated approach to protect Ostend’s back port against extreme storm surges and the impacts of climate change.

In one coordinated study, Sweco is helping the back port of Ostend with:
✅ a closable storm surge barrier at the mouth of the Ghent–Ostend Canal
✅ a new discharge structure for the Spuikom basin
✅ storm walls around the RYCO marina, including the protected clubhouse
✅ connections to existing storm walls, mobile barriers and scour protection
✅ impact protection, collision safety and related boundary structures

And all of this in a complex working harbour, with canals, historic locks, bridges, tram and road infrastructure, and vital utilities.

Un nouvel environnement d’apprentissage pour les soins de demain. 🫀

Pour la Haute École Provinciale Barbou à Liège, assar, part of Sweco, a conçu un nouveau campus destiné aux futurs infirmiers et kinésithérapeutes. Le bâtiment de 9 732 m² s’inscrit dans la transformation du site de Bavière et réunit apprentissage, rencontre, bien-être et durabilité.

Du foyer central et des auditoires jusqu’aux espaces verts et à la subtile référence à un battement de cœur dans la façade : chaque élément contribue à créer un environnement d’apprentissage reconnaissable et tourné vers l’avenir.

Un lieu où l’architecture et les soins se rencontrent, et où se forment les professionnels de santé de demain.

A canal upgrade with impact beyond shipping 💧
Sweco is supporting De Vlaamse Waterweg nv in upgrading the Roeselare–Lys Canal as part of the EU-funded Seine–Scheldt programme.

Why it matters:
➡️ class Va inland navigation: more cargo per trip
➡️ fewer trucks on the road: better air quality and less congestion
➡️ stronger water management
➡️ more space for nature and recreation along the canal

To keep a long-term programme on track, we combine engineering with digital tools such as BIM, monitoring and project dashboards - so information stays clear, current and actionable.

Part B: meer regie, meer afstemming ⚡️
Vandaag deelt Elia Belgium de update die op 1 september start.

Elia moedigt ontwikkelaars aan om straks het kabeltraject tussen het Elia-station en hun site zelf laten engineeren en vergunnen. Dat maakt tracékeuze, timing en vergunningen extra bepalend.

Bij Sweco bouwen we die expertise nu al verder uit. In Dispatch Moonstone (haven van Antwerpen) — 300 MW / 1200 MWh batterijopslag — namen we in de vergunningsaanvraag ook het volledige kabeltracé mee tussen de Elia-aansluiting en de BESS-hoogspanningspost.

Enkele collega’s zijn vandaag op de workshop aanwezig en nemen de learnings mee naar lopende en toekomstige projecten.

180 billion euros of loss due to the extreme weather in Europe.

That’s why we look at water as a single system - from rainfall and infiltration to groundwater, surface water and reuse.
