Our History:

The World Boxing Federation (WBF) ® was originally established in early 1988 in Bristol, Tenneessee (USA) by its founder and inaugral president Larry Carrier, who was popular as the owner of the Bristol International Raceway. In the following year, the WBF held its first championship bouts and Carrier passed on the presidency of the organization to Ron Scalf. In 2005, Carrier, who wa

s successful in a multitude of business enterprises, passed away at the age of 82 after a long illness. Under Ron Scalf, the WBF grew into a global sanctioning body and held title bouts all over the world. The 90ies was without a doubt a most successful decade for the WBF so far and laid the foundation for its good reputation. In 2003, Scalf resigned as president and the organization faced troubled times, because of a default court judgement against the WBF. This was owed to the fact that the attorney hired by the Federation simply did not attend an ordered court hearing. From 2003 to 2004, Londoner Jonathan Feld tried to rescue the WBF and acted as its president from England. However, despite huge efforts, he was ultimately not successful and forced to step down when the World Boxing Federation was finally dissolved. Scalf then agreed with Australian Mick Croucher to continue the organization under the name “World Boxing Foundation”, with offices in Melbourne. After a few successful years, most of the staff to whom the forward process was owed to during this time simultaneously stepped down from their positions with the “Foundation”, when it became clear that no further improvement was possible under Croucher’s presidency. By the end of 2009, the organization was re-established under its original name World Boxing Federation (WBF) ® as a non-profit entity. South African Howard Goldberg, from Cape Town, an experienced boxing administrator for many years, assumed the position of president, with former president Ron Scalf lending his support for the first half year in the position as vice president, together with Italian Matteo Fratini.

Former World Champ Nozipho Bell Returns In WBF Intercontinental Clash.

Nozipho Bell, the former World Boxing Federation (WBF) world Featherweight champion, returns on April 28 in Gqeberha, South Africa, fighting for the vacant WBF Intercontinental Light Welterweight title.

Bell, 15-5-1 (5), will take on experienced Namibian-born Zimbabwean Chiedza Homakoma, 8-9-3 (4) on a show staged by Mbali Zantsi.

36-year-old Bell has been a top contender for most of her career, and besides winning the WBF world title in 2019 she has also challenged for WBO and IBO world titles abroad.

Also a former South African national champion and IBF Intercontinental titlist at Super Featherweight, she has now decided to move to Light Welter in pursuit of eventually becoming a world champion again.

“The Queen Tiger” Homakoma (32) always comes to fight, and after facing some of the best boxers Africa has to offer, she is motivated to upset the favourite.

Beating a former world champion and established name such as Bell would be a major breakthrough for her career, while Bell cant afford to lose if she is to regain former glory.
