Bangladesh Bank Introduces Monthly Reporting for Medium & Long-Term Foreign Loans

Bangladesh Bank has issued a new circular requiring all authorized dealer (AD) banks to submit monthly information on private sector medium and long-term foreign loans, effective from July 2026.

The reporting includes the submission of five Rationalized Input Templates (RITs) along with the relevant ED-1/ED-2 forms and supporting loan documents by the 15th day of the following month.

This initiative is expected to strengthen:

* Foreign debt monitoring and transparency
* Macroeconomic risk assessment
* External debt sustainability analysis
* Policy formulation and financial stability

Action Required: Banks and businesses with foreign loan facilities should review the new reporting requirements and ensure timely compliance to avoid regulatory issues.

Bangladesh Bank has issued a new circular on Deferred Tax accounting for financial institutions, reinforcing compliance with BAS and IFRS.

The circular clarifies that Deferred Tax Assets arising from provisions against classified loans and investments cannot be treated as distributable profit and must be deducted from Regulatory Eligible Capital.

A positive step towards greater transparency, prudence, and financial stability in the sector.
