Universal Menswear Limited, a concern of Ananta Group, is one of the largest suit manufacturing factories in South Asia, located in Adamjee EPZ, Bangladesh. Over the past 16 years, it has established a remarkable milestone in the garment industry through its consistent growth and excellence.

In addition, as part of Ananta Group’s continued expansion, a state-of-the-art synthetic fabrics manufacturing plant - Ananta Knitwear Limited is set to begin operations in Narsingdi this year, which will open new horizons of opportunity in Bangladesh’s textile and apparel sector.

We are pleased to welcome Sharif Zahir, Managing Director of Ananta Group and Chairman of United Commercial Bank, to Panel 01: "Negotiating the Future: Trade Agreements and Bangladesh Apparel Post-LDC."

Sharif Zahir has been recognized as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) by the Government of Bangladesh for seven consecutive years. He recently got elected as a Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Association of Bankers (BAB) and the Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. This is a testament to his consistent contribution to our national economy.

A past director of BGMEA, he has played a key role in strengthening the competitiveness of Bangladesh's apparel sector. His leadership extends across industries, from banking to asset management, but he remains rooted in the future of our garment industry. We look forward to his perspectives on trade, transition, and what comes next for Bangladesh.
