BAPLC Successfully Holds Knowledge-Sharing Session on “Exploring IPOs: Readiness, Challenges and Roadmap to Listing”
The Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC) successfully organized a knowledge-sharing session titled “Exploring IPOs: Readiness, Challenges and Roadmap to Listing” at the DSE Multipurpose Hall, DSE Tower, Dhaka, bringing together regulators, stock exchange officials, market intermediaries, industry leaders, and prospective issuers to discuss opportunities and challenges related to Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in Bangladesh.
The session was organized as part of BAPLC’s continued efforts to promote capital market development and encourage more companies to raise long-term capital through public listing.
The Session has been specially designed for companies-particularly the members of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) those who are interested in exploring capital market-based financing as a sustainable and strategic alternative to traditional bank borrowing for business growth and expansion.
Technical presentations were delivered by Mr. Sumit Podder, Secretary General of BMBA, who provided an overview of the IPO application process, benefits of IPO, how to become listed in the Stock Exchanges and Mr. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan, FCS, General Manager and CRO (Acting), DSE, who presented regulatory observations and compliance requirements for prospective IPO applicants.
The program was graced by Mr. Tanwir Habib Rahman, Commissioner, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Riad Mahmud, President of BAPLC, chaired the session.
Among the distinguished guests present were Mr. Mominul Islam, Chairman of Dhaka Stock Exchange PLC (DSE), Mr. Mohammad Hatem, President of BKMEA and Mr. Saiful Islam, President, DSE Brokers Association (DBA) who shared their valuable perspectives on the importance of broadening the participation of businesses in the capital market.
The speakers emphasized the importance of corporate governance, transparency, regulatory compliance, financial preparedness, and strategic planning for companies aspiring to access the capital market. The interactive discussion session enabled participants to engage directly with regulators and market experts, addressing practical concerns related to IPO readiness and listing requirements.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Riad Mahmud, President of BAPLC, thanked the distinguished guests, speakers, and participants for their active engagement. He reiterated BAPLC’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance awareness, strengthen market confidence, and facilitate the entry of quality companies into the capital market.
