The JDPC has been created with the VISION of improving jute scenario, sustained development of jute economy and reviving the past glory of jute.

t is commercially produced from Corchorus capsularis L. and Corchorus olitorius L. It is also biodegradable and does not create any adverse effect on the ecosystem; rather it maintains an excellent harmony with the ecosystem. Based on the potentialities and opportunities, the Ministry of Textiles & Jute established a Centre for promoting diversification of jute, with the proposal and resolution under taken in an International Forum for diversification of jute uses, organized in collaboration with the then IJO, UNDP, European Union and FBCCI. Consequently Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) was established in 2002 for five years. Now JDPC Project is carrying out phase III which has been started in January 01, 2013. A 20-member Steering Committee headed by the Secretary, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Government of Bangladesh works as the Governing Body of the Centre and Executive Director, JDPC acts as the Member-Secretary of the Committee. The Steering Committee determines the sources of finance and approves annual budget and work plan of the Centre. The Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Government of Bangladesh guides, supports and monitors activities of the Centre. The head office of the project is located at Dhaka in the premises of International Jute Study Group. There are 6 sub- offices in the name of JUTE ENTREPRENEURS SERVICES CENTRE (JESC). JESC´s are (i) Dhaka (ii) Narsigndi (iii) Chittagong (iv) Jessore (v) Rangpur and (vi) Tangail. Centers have the facilities of RAW MATERIAL BANK.
