We are excited to announce the launch of 'ProbashiBondhu jouthoKhamar' under the Pranisheba Jouthokhamar initiative.
This is an innovative, gender-smart, migrant-centric financial solution that channels remittance income into insured, shared cattle farming across six remittance-intensive districts of Bangladesh. This novel initiative is launched under the project Leave No One Behind in the Digital Era in Bangladesh & implemented by Pranisheba with support from the United Nations Capital Development Fund.
The product will be initially introduced across six remittance-intensive districts of Narshingdi, Chattogram, Feni, Cumilla, Tangail, and Munshiganj.
Why migrant-centric approach:
There are more than 4 million remittance-receiving households in Bangladesh receiving USD 30.3 billion- the highest ever annual inflow during 2024/25, based on Bangladesh Bank data. Yet, a significant amount of this capital remains idle due to the lack of access and education for meaningful and profitable ways of investing that could potentially empower these households. Moreover, rearing cattle for beef fattening is an investment modality that is culturally known to these rural communities.
ProbashiBondhu jouthoKhamar offers a simple and effective way of building a solid base of financial stability for these migrant workers’ families, boosting rural Bangladesh's economy at large.
The product is designed based on Adorsho praniSheba’s shared farming model 'praniSheba jouthoKhamar' aimed to generate alternative income opportunities for marginal farmers especially the unemployed womenfolks.
