Happy New Year everyone, this is the first post of the year and I believe that this topic is quite relevant at the moment.

Most of you have a home and contents policy either through us or through a direct insurance company like RACQ, Suncorp, Budget Direct, Coles or Woolies.

This applies to all policies, not just through brokers, insurance companies have been absolutely smashed by weather related claims.

These are not just floods, but storms, cyclones etc.

You need to look at the fine print of these policies carefully, because insurers are increasing the excesses on water weather related events in some cases from a $500 excess up to $2,500 excess. And adding in some cases, that they will only cover up to a nominated figure for flood claims and not the full sum insured value of the house.

It’s not necessarily right, but they are well within their rights to do so, so please read the policy terms and conditions properly to make sure that if you have a claim, there are no surprises that you didn’t expect.

If you are unsure what you are looking at please ask.

All pubs and clubs
Entertainment venues (cinemas, casinos,nightclubs)
Restaurants and Cafes (takeaway and home delivery to continue)
Indoor sporting venues and gyms
Places of worship

We will keep you posted with information as it becomes available.

The Covid 19 pandemic has caused dramatic changes to businesses and their protocols for conducting business. Our general insurance industry is no exception.

You should be conscious of the following:
- It is possible that the processing of insurance policies and claims may take more time to process!
- Underwriting staff may be required to work from home
- Communication between staff may not be as efficient if they are working remotely
- Claims may take considerably more time to process because of the increased demands on staff, assessors and the underwriters.

As your insurance broker we will remain on top of your needs and requirements….but we can only control what WE can control. Help us be ahead of the curve….

If there are delays please be patient and understanding. We can assure you your concerns ARE our concerns.

To our valued clients,

As a partner to you and your business, we continue to closely monitor the impacts of coronavirus (COVID-19). Our top priority is to ensure the health and safety of our employees, clients and communities.

With the number of identified COVID-19 cases continuing to grow globally, the concern over its potential to affect employee welfare, disruption to global supply chains, and interruption to standard business operations has increased. We wanted to share information that can help you navigate through the current uncertainty, as well as to provide an update on our operations.

Business risks and insurance policies that may be relevant

There are a range of key commercial insurance policies that may be advisable for you to check in terms of how they might respond to the COVID-19 outbreak. We strongly recommend taking action now to review your current insurance cover and business continuity plans with your broker.

We have developed an overview that contains general information on insurance coverages, planning for contingencies and communicating with your employees, including:
• corporate travel insurance
• workers’ compensation
• public liability insurance
• management liability and directors and officers’ insurance
• business interruption insurance
plus others.

While specific policies for business loss due to an infectious disease outbreak are uncommon, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance broker to check what key coverages may apply to cover loss relating to an infectious disease outbreak.

Connect with us. We are here to help

As with many organisations, we are trying to reduce in-person meetings and travel, so the way in which we provide support may look different. Our teams are using virtual meeting tools when appropriate, and we are limiting non-essential travel in accordance with health and safety guidelines. We will continue to be available to you and your business via phone, email and online wherever needed.

Despite these operational changes, our purpose remains the same. We are committed to delivering the insurance, risk management and consulting support you need.

Faced with the evolving pandemic outbreak, we are also well positioned to assist you in preparing for potential interruptions to business operations. We can also provide risk consultation and management services to support your business. If you have any questions or concerns relating to your insurance program and/or risk management provisions, please get in touch:

Steve or Kate at 1300 326 225 or email [email protected]

Coronavirus – COVID-19 outbreak: What it means for TravelCard customers.

The WHO declared Novel Coronavirus (2019-CoV) a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020. Since then, the Coronavirus has been listed on their website under Pandemic, epidemic diseases.

Our Leisure travel insurance policies do not include cover for claims relating to pandemics or epidemics. This includes any medical expenses relating to coronavirus COVID-19, cancellation of your trip due to coronavirus, or any other coronavirus-related expense.

If you do need to change your travel, we suggest you contact your travel provider first. Some are allowing people to postpone or cancel their travel and issuing a refund. If that’s not possible please contact us and we’ll see what we can do to help.

It is important to monitor the smartraveller.gov.au website, as the situation is constantly evolving. Pay particular attention to DFAT warnings.

You are still insured for all our standard covers, for example if you have to cancel your trip for an unforeseen reason out of your control, you experience an unrelated medical issue overseas such as a broken bone, your baggage is lost or delayed, or you experience a theft. For more information on these and other covers please refer to your Product Disclosure Statement available online at www.travelcard.com.au

This is a complex situation so please do talk to us if you still have any questions and we’ll do everything we can to help.

This is a rapidly changing situation. For further information on the coronavirus and the DFAT Advice Levels please see the following websites:
