A big thanks to Les from ANZ who came into the office to surprise us with the news that we had $50million in lending with ANZ. And it was a surprise to us! There are many things that we are tracking as a business, but our loan book by lender is not something that we track- as we don't work for the banks, we work for our clients to find the best solution for their situation. Les, our BDM, supported by Lisa, are exceptional at their job, and are always there to answer our calls and questions to help us, help you, and for that we are so grateful.

A self employed sick day 🫠
Being self employed gives us a bit of flexibility. It means we can work from anywhere, be available for our kids, and finish early on a Friday if we want.
But then there’s days like today. We are in the office and have a Zoom at 10.30. Decisions need to be made and the clock doesn’t stop when you’re sick. His phone will ring, and you’ll never know that he’s lying under a desk with a heater on his back.
We post a lot of the positive, but I think it’s important to show both sides of the small business story, because you don’t often get to see the slog behind the scenes of the happy snaps.

When we have 4 lender BDMs visiting in one day and our staff coming in from King Lake to Point Cook, we were lucky to have Sourdough Kitchen Seddon (Williamstown) to provide the yummy treats

These lender sessions help us dive into real life scenarios everything from the purchase of a Child Care Centre to a loan against a Rent Roll and what they do well compared to over 40 other lenders on our panel.

We recently celebrated our 10 years in business and over a beautiful lunch at Reine & LaRue with our Partnership manager Mya and our broker Nic, we were asked about our hardest year in business. And it's been this one! Just in May we settled on our purchase of a small brokerage in Queensland, it's been our biggest year of settlements, we have a bigger team, we have 2 boys in high school, one with Type 1 diabetes. Our son got his insulin pump last month, and the business gives us the flexibility to work around the days in the hospital, but can't do much to help the sleepless nights of worry. Those who know us really well know that Bali is our happy place and we haven't been for 14 months because work in the last year took us to some other fabulous places, but we have felt it, because Bali is where we relax and recharge our batteries. When we aren't working, you'll find us at lacrosse on Saturday morning, or on the sidelines at soccer on Sundays, because before anything else we are parents. We started Accession Finance out of a need to get out of a terrible work situation and continue to provide for our 2 young boys, and it has given us more than we could ever have asked for. We still have big plans of what we want to achieve in the next 10 years, but if we could only use one word to sum up our 10 years in business so far, it would be 'grateful' for the ways it has changed our life, and for the impact it continues to have on many others. We love what we do ❤️
