Our Chair, Rae Lawson, was delighted to attend the recent SA Sea Rescue Squadron Annual Dinner as a guest and enjoyed a wonderful evening celebrating the incredible work of this dedicated organisation.

A very special highlight was seeing Gary Brown receive his well-deserved Life Membership. Gary, a long-time friend of Rod Beames and a regular attendee at the Friends of Rotary dinners, is such a lovely and genuine gentleman. Congratulations, Gary!

Rae was also warmly welcomed by current Commodore Nick Cundell, who made her feel very much part of the evening and proud to represent our West Beach branch at this annual event.

Another highlight was meeting West Torrens Councillor George Demetriou and his wife, Despar. At 92, George has proudly served as a Councillor for an incredible 52 years - a truly remarkable achievement!

Thank you to the SA Sea Rescue Squadron for a wonderful evening celebrating a truly dedicated crew who play such an important role in keeping our seas safe.

SHE DID IT! ALISON ABSEILED THE INTERCONTINENTAL!

On Saturday, our volunteer director Alison took on the challenge of abseiling down the InterContinental in the city to help raise funds for Puddle Jumpers Incorporated and she absolutely smashed it!

With perfect weather, an incredible view and plenty of courage, Alison represented our West Beach branch with pride and took on this amazing challenge for a fantastic cause.

A HUGE thank you, Alison, for your bravery, enthusiasm and for getting involved! We’re so proud of you and even happier that you had an absolute blast!

A big thank you to Puddle Jumpers and all the organisers and volunteers for creating such a fun, exciting and safe event.

And finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who kindly donated and supported Alison. Your generosity is very much appreciated and helps make a real difference!

Three of our dedicated volunteer Board Directors - Rae, Sue and Alison recently enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Friends of Rotary dinner, featuring an engaging presentation from mental health advocate Marc Ryan.

It was a fun, heartfelt and poignant evening, exploring a topic that is incredibly important in today’s community. Marc’s insights and advocacy provided plenty of food for thought, while reminding us of the importance of looking out for one another.

It was also wonderful to once again spend an evening with so many local people who are passionate about making a positive difference and helping our community be the very best it can be.

A great night, great company and an important conversation.

There’s just one week left to experience “Embracing Youthful Creativity” at our SALA Festival display at our West Beach branch.

Throughout August, we’ve been proud to showcase beautiful photography by local artists Bobbi Devine and Gavin Karjalainen, alongside inspiring artwork from talented students at Henley High School and Nazareth Catholic College.

From capturing special moments through the lens to expressing creativity on canvas, this wonderful exhibition showcases the unique perspectives, imagination and talent right here in our local community.
