Bought with a small deposit? Your LVR has probably dropped since then, and your rate may not have.

A lower LVR can mean a sharper rate, a reno fund, or one cleaner repayment instead of a pile of high interest debt.

RBA just hiked rates to 4.60%, a 15 year high. Inflation’s the real driver here, not unemployment, that’s actually holding steady.

My take, government spending isn’t helping the inflation fight either. And the property market feels this from every angle, construction costs staying high, rentals climbing, and buyers losing borrowing power.

Same couple. Same income. Same expenses. Two rate rises and they lose around $36,000 in borrowing power.

We ran $180k combined income with one dependant through the lenders at today’s rate, then after a 0.25% rise, then after 0.50%. Nothing changed except the rate.
