🏑 Congratulations to our Junior Sports Star of the Month for June, Lincoln Bryant!

We’re proud to recognise Lincoln as the Darling Downs Bank, Condamine Sports Club and Town & Country Journal Junior Sports Star of the Month for the Warwick, Killarney and Allora areas.

It’s been an outstanding season for the Warwick State High School student, with Lincoln achieving success across regional, state, national and international hockey.

Among his achievements, Lincoln has:

🟠 Represented Toowoomba at the Queensland U18 State Championships, finishing as a State Championship finalist

🟠 Earned selection in the Queensland U18 team to compete at the Australian U18 National Championships in Darwin

🟠 Helped Darling Downs claim the Queensland State School Championship, scoring his penalty in a tense shootout

🟠 Been selected in the Queensland U19 Schoolboys Team

🟠 Represented the Hockey Queensland Academy at the Mirnawan Cup in Malaysia in 2025

As our Junior Sports Star of the Month of June, Lincoln received a $100 Darling Downs Bank account, presented by Warwick Branch Manager Anne-Louise Byrne.

Congratulations, Lincoln! We’re proud to celebrate young local athletes who are representing our region and achieving great things on and off the field. 👏

Mannu thought he was paying a $20,000 deposit to his builder. Instead, the payment link he received was from a scammer, and his hard-earned money was gone.
His story shows just how easily scammers can target everyday transactions – and why taking an extra moment before making a payment matters.

This Scams Awareness Week, 24–28 August, Darling Downs Bank is reminding our community to:

🛑 STOP – Before transferring money, take a moment and don’t let urgency rush your decision.
🔎 CHECK – Verify payment details independently. If details have changed or something doesn’t seem right, contact the person or business using contact details you already trust.
🔒 PROTECT – If you think you’ve been scammed, act quickly. Contact your bank immediately and report the scam to Scamwatch.

No one’s just a number. Stop. Check. Protect.

Nikita connected online with someone she believed she could trust. After weeks of conversations, an urgent request came for $5,000 to help following an accident.
She sent the money. The next day, she was blocked.

Nikita’s story is an important reminder this Scams Awareness Week, 24–28 August – scams can happen to anyone, and they’re becoming increasingly sophisticated and convincing.

Darling Downs Bank encourages everyone to remember three simple steps:
🛑 STOP – Take a moment before sending money or sharing personal information.
🔎 CHECK – Make sure the person you’re dealing with is really who they say they are.
🔒 PROTECT – If something feels wrong, act quickly. Contact your bank and report the scam to Scamwatch.

Susanne received messages she believed were from her daughter. Her phone was broken, her bank account was frozen, and she urgently needed money.

The messages became more urgent, and by the time Susanne called her daughter to check, nearly $26,000 had been transferred.

Her story is a powerful reminder of why it pays to Stop. Check. Protect.

🛑 STOP – Don’t let an urgent message pressure you into acting.
🔎 CHECK – Contact the person directly using a number you already know and trust to make sure it’s really them.
🔒 PROTECT – If you think you’ve been scammed, act quickly. Contact your bank and report the scam to Scamwatch.

A text. A phone call. A code. That’s all it took for scammers to steal enough money from Lindy to leave her in debt.

Her story is an important reminder that scams are designed to create urgency, pressure and panic – and they can happen to anyone.

This Scams Awareness Week, 24–28 August, Darling Downs Bank is encouraging our community to remember three simple steps:
🛑 STOP – Take a moment before acting. Don’t let urgency pressure you into making a quick decision.
🔎 CHECK – Make sure the person or organisation contacting you is really who they say they are.
🔒 PROTECT – If something feels wrong, act quickly. Contact your bank if you’ve shared financial information or lost money, and report scams to Scamwatch.
