We are happy to announce that we have this week completed the acquistion of Mortgage Choice - Nick Peters business.

Nick has established a long standing business with decades in the finance industry and will now move into retirement.

Nick's business was local to Eltham, Greensborough, Diamond Creek, Templestowe and surrounding areas. This purchased business will compliment our existing Mortgage Choice Eltham business located directly across from the Eltham Hotel and Zen Den cafe.

Do you have a home loan with HSBC?

This week, HSBC announced it is exiting retail banking in Australia and has sold their loan book to Blackstone, a US Asset Management company. This means your HSBC home loan will transfer to Blackstones chosen manager, Pepper Money. The transfer of loans is expected to commence early 2027.

Pepper Money are a large non-bank lender that have operated in the Australian market for many years.

This acquisition may not be the desired outcome for many HSBC customers due to loss of branch network, a different internet banking platform, transitioning to a non-bank and the ceasation of whole of banking offerings.

Unfortunately not every marriage or relationship is everlasting.

Our office handles large volumes of separation transactions. This typically involves one partner paying out another and then transferring the property into a sole name.

This is what we recommend.

Meet with a broker as early as possible into the negotiations. Determine your borrowing capacity. This will give you a great guide as to what your mediation and agreement position is.

Be sure to ensure loan repayments are continued during the separation process. We see too many instances where a breakdown in communication (or a desire) results in repayments being missed. Regardless of who's fault this is, all applicants are deemed as responsible by the current lender and may impact your credit score.

2026 BUDGET

A bit to unpack here and I will be doing just that throughout the day. I get all the big jobs 😃

Every policy decision a government makes generally has an unintended consequence, bandaid upon bandaid. This year there will be plenty. With my focus on property, business and lending this is what I already envisage.

📌New properties will increase in value, the opposite to what the government is trying to achieve.
📌Rents will go up, the opposite to what the government is trying to achieve.
📌Purchasing property in a SMSF just become more popular
📌Refinancing will become more difficult for property Investors with the negative gearing changes.
📌Selling assets in retirement just got a little less appealing

A massive congratulations to Jess and Angeline on racing past their probation period this week. We advertised for one role in September last year, couldn't split them, so we created an additional role.
We are extremely proud of the fact that all of our team are employed and reside in Melbourne .... which is quite unique in our industry currently. Yes it costs 3 x a Philippine or Indian offshore salary however we are rewarded tenfold by our strategy.
Jess is about to commence her Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking whilst Angeline will be commencing her Diploma with us in the same subject.
