rom the outset is paramount. With a professional background in investment banking and corporate lending, Michael is able to readily understand and assess his clients’ requirements and goals, and in turn translate those into suitable lending solutions.

‘One of my strongest qualities is perseverance and persistence,’ he says. ‘It can sometimes take a while to find a suitable solution for a client. But I always go the extra mile to find it.’

Michael combines his business acumen and industry knowledge with a straightforward, honest approach. He provides realistic advice and will advocate for clients based on their own unique circumstances. ‘If you don’t have a good credit history or your loan serviceability score is low, I will work hard to find a solution that works,’ he says. ‘I am focused on solving problems rather than hitting sales targets, so am always looking for ways to deliver real value and more benefits to my clients.’

The lending market is ever-changing and complex, and Michael aims to help his clients understand the process and navigate it smoothly. He is always happy to answer questions and stays current with the relevant rules, regulations and government grants, as well as the latest bank product offerings and industry trends so he can always provide the most up-to-date advice.

‘Finding an adviser who is always on top of things and is market-savvy can prevent deals from falling through or loan declines at the last minute,’ he says. ‘Clients benefit from my detail-oriented approach and ability to close a loan quickly.’

Michael aims to build strong long-term partnerships with his clients based on trust and reliability. ‘I recognise that a client’s needs, circumstances and goals will change over time, so I am dedicated to working in their best interests over the long term.’

Following a 21-year career in finance, Michael brings considerable industry expertise to his clients. After starting his professional career in auditing in the mid-90s in 1998 he transitioned into investment banking in London, working for US broker/dealer Salomon Brothers (the firm that invented the mortgage-backed security, and in so doing, spawned the securitisation industry; who were later sold to Citigroup). Over the years, he has worked for several other of the world’s leading investment firms J.P. Morgan, Société Générale, Standard Bank and Investec. ‘During my time in investment banking I gained valuable experience in corporate treasury and credit and lending products,’ he says. Ultimately, Michael’s pedigree in corporate and investment banking and passion for property led him to Smartline, and he says that helping clients to realise their dreams is personally very rewarding and gratifying. When he’s not at work, you’ll find Michael enjoying life on Sydney’s North Shore with his family and their cute little Westie dog. He plays social tennis and golf, and the occasional game of chess, but his true passion is music: ‘I love listening to all genres of music and also enjoy DJ’ing on the side (!)’. He’s also a bit of a foodie, and as an aspiring cook loves experimenting with new kitchen gadgets. Michael can assist clients with home loans, investment loans, business loans, commercial loans, refinancing, and asset and car financing. He offers a mobile service across the Sydney metropolitan area, with a particular focus on the North Shore. In addition, with video technology and the ability to work remotely, he is happy to take on clients from all parts of Australia.
