A quiet moment of gratitude.
Having been born and brought up in Fiji, and later moving to Australia, I constantly remind myself that so much of what I have today is a bonus and something I never take for granted. What I have today, the opportunities, the stability, and the people I get to serve, are a reflection of the values and guidance I received growing up. On 27th of November, I had the privilege of being part of a meaningful handover in Fiji through Compassion Network, which I had the privilege of founding, alongside the Frank Hilton Organisation, the Australian High Commission in Fiji, and the Ministry of Health Fiji. Funds raised this year through our community’s generosity, AUD $17,755 (FJD $23,370) were used to deliver specialised equipment supporting infant hearing detection and early intervention, helping ensure children with hearing challenges are identified and supported at the earliest possible stage. The attached video captures moments from the handover program, with reflections from the Australian High Commission in Fiji, insights from the CEO of the Frank Hilton Organisation on the equipment and its impact, and a few words from me on behalf of Compassion Network. Together, these voices reflect what this initiative truly stands for, namely collaboration, dignity, and care for the children and families we collectively serve. As a finance broker, staying grounded matters deeply to me. My work is guided by the same human values I was raised with, that is integrity, appreciation for what we have, and a responsibility to act thoughtfully for others. Whether supporting clients through important financial decisions or contributing to community initiatives, I try to approach every interaction with humility and respect, remembering that trust is never assumed and must be earned. I am deeply grateful to every supporter, volunteer, sponsor, and donor who made this moment possible. This was not about recognition. It was about coming together to do what we could, with what we had, for those who need it most. Together, we move forward with one act of kindness at a time.
