It's important to know how much you should be putting aside for your retirement depending on your starting age and preferred retirement age.

For example, assuming a 4% investment return and retirement income of 80% replacement rate:

- A 25 year old wanting to retire at age 65 should save 15% of their income

- A 35 year old wanting to retire at age 67 should save 18% of their income

- A 45 year old wanting to retire at age 67 should save 31% of their income

Our financial advisers can look at your current situation including how much you have been contributing, what your age is and what the investments in your superannuation are so you can make the best out of your money and ensure you reach your retirement goal.

We love helping our clients make financial decisions and plan for their future, and hearing our clients fantastic feedback is always a great reminder of the positive impact we make on their lives.

Thanks for the testimonial David ☺️

“OUR BROKER recommended Plansure to help us out with our finances, and we are so thankful for that.

During our first meetings with Cat we went through all our financial issues (a lot of debts and expenses) and set realistic goals in the short, medium and long term. She was so helpful identifying our opportunities for improvement and like a good coach she kept us accountable along the way.

With her help since 2016 we’ve managed to set a reasonable family budget, pay all our credit card debts, make some investments, grow our savings and now we’re ready for some property investment as well. She also helped us organising our super funds to make the best out of them.

There’s a bit of hard work involved but with her guide and tools be sure you’ll reach your goals. We will be always thankful to Cat and the Plansure team, and will highly recommend them.” David M

Sorting your finances can be daunting, especially if you are someone that has never really paid much attention to this area of your life.

The most important thing is to just start!

There are many different ways to start such as, creating a budget, starting a savings account, making sure you pay your bills on time and starting to pay down debt. The first step is always the hardest, but once you get the ball rolling the rest becomes easier.

If you have lots of questions and need help putting your goals into action, speak to one of our financial strategists.

What are the pros and cons of credit cards? 💳🤷🏻

The cons are that they can encourage impulsive and unnecessary purchases. They can also be accompanied by high interest rates if not paid in full by the due date.

They have high cash advance fees and rates, and can have high annual fees. Some businesses even charge a credit card surcharge which adds to more unnecessary expenses for you.

The pros are that you can use your credit card to earn points and you won't get charged interest if you pay back what you owe within the interest free days. Credit cards can help build your credit rating, which can be of benefit when applying for a loan.

The question you have have to ask yourself is do you have enough discipline and enough of a good understanding of your financial situation to responsibly use a credit card?

If you don't, then you would be much better off not using a credit card as it will create unnecessary debt for you.

However, if you have enough discipline and understand your financial situation then you can use your credit card to your advantage.

From 1st of July 2021 super contributions are increasing.

So what is changing?

◾ Super Guarantee, what your employer pays (also referred to as SGC) is increasing from 9.5% to 10%

◾ The concessional contribution limit is increasing from $25,000 to $27,500 per financial year

◾ The non-concessional (after tax) contribution limit is increasing from $100,000 to $110,000 per financial year

This may be a great opportunity for you to increase your super contributions!

Things to be mindful of…

◾ If you are making extra contributions (such as salary sacrifice), make sure your total super contributions don't exceed $27,500
