Last week we hit a huge milestone at MHIA - we had a wonderful customer leave us our 600th review, very quickly followed by our 601st on the same day.

The staff member of the hour whose service led to that review was Jesse, depicted in this post as a solid gold statue. He has taken to being called 'Mr 600' by the team and being good sports, we'll oblige him for the week.

If something unexpected has happened to your home, it can be tempting to think,"I'll just duck back in and grab something important. I'll be quick."

No matter how tempting it may be, your safety comes first.

Leave the property and, if there is an immediate risk to people or property, contact emergency services.

Once everyone is safe, our claims team is available during normal business hours, and our online claims form can be used to start the claims process at any time. We want it to be convenient to suit your needs.

Remember: no possession is worth risking your health or safety.

Here are a few tips to help figure out what your land lease lifestyle looks like!

Walking is healthy, low impact and great for your overall fitness. Better yet, if you do it with friends you can get in some much-needed social time too! Many land lease communities have walking groups which are always looking for new members to join.

You only get out what you put in! If you're over 60 having a diet rich in protein, fiber and whole foods is key. Drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated helps move those nutrients around too. Speak with your doctor or a dietician for even more targeted dietary planning.

Your brain runs the whole show, so don't forget to give it a workout. Getting creative and diving into hobbies can get those neurones firing. Painting, sculpting, wood working, knitting, reading and all manner of other creative endeavors can flex those brain cells..

We've learned thing or 2 about land lease homes and the people who choose to live in them.

1) Less about the home, more about the lifestyle: Redefining what retirement means is the number one thing. That means poolside sips, gym visits and enjoying the clubhouse.

2) Not downsizing, rightsizing: Many homeowners made the decision to move from their old family home and choose something more manageable for their golden years.

3) It's the right fit for right now: You might not be ready for a retirement village or higher needs care. You want the best fit to meet your capabilities and freedom.

We know... a bit rude showing a poolside shot when it’s still technically Winter. Don’t worry, it’ll warm up soon enough.
