Over the next 2 months council will be doing roadworks on Thuringowa Drive, outside Huggable Headquarters.

You can still access off street parking, but just be mindful that there might be delays getting through as council do their works.

HomeBuilder Update!!

Yesterday, the government announced an extension to the commencement date for construction from 6 months, to 18 months. Hoorah!!! 👍

The detail:

On 17 April 2021, the Government announced it would extend the construction commencement requirement from six months to 18 months for all applications (i.e. for all contracts signed 4 June 2020-31 March 2021 inclusive).

BIG HomeBuilder Grant News!!

In short, there has been both an extension to the grant eligibility period (previously 31/12/2020, now 31/03/2021.. though for contracts FROM the 01/01/2021, the grant is only $15K), as well as an extension to the commencement date requirement (previously 3 months, now 6 months, for all applications).

The core detail:

As recently announced, the HomeBuilder program will be extended to 31 March 2021.

Changes to the HomeBuilder program include:

• A $15,000 grant for building contracts (new builds and substantial renovations) signed between 1 January 2021 and 31 March 2021, inclusive.
• An extended deadline for all applications to be submitted, including those applying for the $25, 000 grant and the new $15,000 grant. Applications can now be submitted up until 14 April 2021 (inclusive). This will apply to all eligible contracts signed on or after 4 June 2020.
• An extension to the construction commencement timeframe from three months to six months for all HomeBuilder applicants. This will apply to all eligible contracts signed on or after 1 January 2021, but will also be backdated and apply to all contracts entered into on or after 4 June 2020.

As most of you know my wife Sandra (who is ridiculously funny :-) ) is also a fully qualified and registered Yoga Therapist.
Sandra, and another very experienced yoga therapist, want to provide people with disability the opportunity to enjoy yoga and will be offering sessions at a heavily discounted price for a whole week in January.

We are seeking people who experience a disability who would be interested in participating in Yoga Therapy sessions at the start of January.

Ellen Nash and I will be making ourselves available to hold 1-on-1 yoga therapy appointments specifically for people who experience a disability.

Yoga Therapy is not just yoga. Yes we use the tools of yoga but each session includes a full assessment before developing a specialised yoga therapy program to suit each individuals specific needs.

Ellen is a highly experienced Yoga Therapist (and NDIS registered provider) from Brisbane and has a special interest in working with people with all disability, including but not limited to Cerebral Palsy, MS, brain injuries, Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, spinal cord issues and more, with great results.

As this will be professional development for me, these sessions will be at a highly reduced rates.

This has never been offered in Townsville before and I really hope I have the community’s support to help spread the word and get this event going.
