With the recent weather around the world, tornados, Tsunami, and our own recent rains. I just wonder how insurers in America, view their risk, especially risk in tornado zones. Insurers attitude in Australia, are they will decline to offer or renew insurance. I am sure business owners in Australia have experienced problems with their insurers, with regard to storm & tempest claims. The recent infrastructure in Sydney with West-Connex road works, resulting in drains not cope and overflowing causing property damage to business & domestic homes.

Whether you are a small business or not Cyer or computer hacking are rather rife in all industries. How many times have you checked your credit card only to find unauthorised transactions. Well companies are not exempt. Consider Cyber Insurance, otherwise your data base might be compromised resutling in a huge financial burden.

Too many people shopping for insurance rely on the direct market for their insurance needs. The problems associated with the direct market, you are sold what you ask for rather then what you actually need. Insurance Brokers are there to advise you and guide you into the right product, and at the same time you are not compromising on your cover. I can site a situation on the south coast where two retail businesses side by side, suffering losses due to a storm. The retailer who utilised the services of a broker was paid his claim, the other went direct to the insurer and their claim denied. Why the broker ensured his client had flood cover, where as the direct client was left exposed to this peril.

With the recent fires involving wrecking yards- auto dismantlers. Insurers including Lloyds of London are refusing to renew or offer terms to anyone who owns or operates a wrecking yard. I don't think Banks who are Mortgagees would be too impressed knowing their investment is not protected by insurance.

Insurers with there preferred repairers are not only putting panel beaters out of business.

Panel Beaters should unite and protest against these dictating insurers. Monopoly is not good for trade.

I really do not understand why the MTA do not try and support an industry that is suffering.

The cost of insurance premiums are not coming down, therefore are insurers really saving money having preferred repairers. I think not.
