A modern home with the charm of yesteryear.
Designed to look like it had been there for 100 years or more but with a functional floor plan for modern day family life with young children. This new ‘best of both worlds’ home has been created for the modern day farming/working family and for the generations to come. The existing family farmhouse was tired and lacked character and function so the clients decided to look forward and build a brand new home that will stand the test of time and be around for generations to come and would one day be considered to be “Our Great Grandparents Old Homestead”.

With this blank canvas we created something that at first glance is an old homestead yet it is light filled and takes in the views to the farm to admire the crops and changing seasons. The front verandah not only protects it from the western sun and adds character, it is the families favorite spot to sit and take in the sunsets of an afternoon. With 3m high ceilings throughout and a 5.5m raked ceiling to the living and meals room as well as 6m raked ceilings to the deck, this 5 bedroom home with gym, study, attached garage, and a large working farm office, also has a rumpus and bar area that connects to the large screened in deck along with the living area, making for one large space when all open. An electric opening vergola roof over the bbq lets light into the home yet can be closed off as well during rainy or hot days. This makes it a perfect entertainers house, so everyone has space but are all connected as well.

EMBRACIER

Named by our client, Embracier expresses not only who they are as people, but represents how they wanted their new home to feel. A home designed to cater to an ever-growing extended family while retaining a homely and cosy feeling for the occupants. Including 3 internal living areas, 4 external living areas, 2 Internal Kitchens, External Kitchen/BBQ area, Dedicated Cinema Room, Office, 4 Bedrooms including Master Suite, His & Her Walk-in-Robes, Ensuite, 2 additional Bathrooms, 2 Powder Rooms, Laundry, 4 Person Lift and oversized Garage, Embracier’s large list of inclusions and street presence elevates it above all other homes in the area. Whilst its inclusions remain generous, intelligent design ideas were embraced (pun intended) to minimize waste, resulting in a home which totals less than 620m2 in area, half the size of homes with similar inclusions. The outcome - a home which is so much more cohesive, where each space connects and interacts with each other (both internally and externally), spaces which remain intimate and yet expansive, and where the sense of space and grandeur is reinforced – all outcomes which are so often lost in larger homes.

The intent of Embracier carries across its integration into the surroundings and site. Intentionally placing the home to the rear of the site has allowed us to not only expand the amazing views the site offers, but to create a connection to the surrounding natural environment and bushland. Hugged by nature, large expanses of glazing including skylights and simultaneous design of site retaining and landscaping place Embracier in harmony with its environment. Modern and sleek in design, Embracier uses low pitched roofs to minimise visual impact on the surrounding bushlands maintaining the cohesive nature of the home.

The thing we are most proud of when it comes to Embracier: a simple statement from our clients to us after living in the home for 16 months… “it’s more than we dreamed of, and we love living here!”
