Tom and Boh caught up over the weekend to break down what happened in markets last Friday and it's worth a watch.

Tech stocks copped the worst of the selloff, with the Nasdaq falling 4.2% in a single session. But the bigger conversation is about what most investors actually own inside their index funds. A lot of people assume they're well diversified but a small number of companies now represent nearly half the S&P 500's entire market cap. When those names wobble, the whole index wobbles with them.

Concentration risk is the kind of risk that creeps in quietly. Understanding what's really under the hood of your portfolio matters more than most people realise.

Give it a watch, and if it gets you thinking about your own investments, feel free to reach out to the team.

Markets move fast. Knowing what it means for your portfolio is where it counts.

Every month, Chalk Capital's Alex and Tom sit down to cut through the noise — breaking down what's happening across global and domestic markets, and what it actually means for clients. May was no exception, with some significant moves in the US and a notable decision from the RBA closer to home.

Staying across the latest data and trends isn't just something Alex and Tom do — it's what allows them to give their clients clear, confident advice no matter what markets are doing.

Race day ready!

A few members of the team headed to the Glennie Race Day over the weekend, supporting The Glennie School and Glennie School Foundation - with proceeds to go towards The Glennie School's Cricket Infrastructure Project, helping build nine new cricket nets and a multi-purpose training area to give young women the chance to chase their dreams on the world stage.

What a brilliant day out!

This morning, Phil attended the 32nd Toowoomba Mayoral Prayer Breakfast at Rumours International - one of the region's most cherished annual community events.

This year's guest speaker was Reverend Stu Cameron, CEO and Superintendent of Wesley Mission, whose incredible work across housing, mental health, su***de prevention, aged care, and community services has impacted the lives of over 139,000 people in the past year alone.

Proceeds from the breakfast will be donated to the Toowoomba Hospice and the Toowoomba PCYC's Youth and Community Programs, two causes making a real difference right here in our community.

It was a morning of inspiration, purpose, and connection. Phil is proud to be part of a community that shows up for one another.

Tom and Alex are back with the April Market Recap

The US is showing signs of recovery, and while domestically things are a little softer, the direction is still up.

Markets have pushed forward — and the message from the guys is clear: stay opportunistic, stay invested for the long term.

It's earnings season and this week doesn't disappoint.

Visa is already turning heads with 17% net revenue growth — the best they've seen since 2022. Tonight the big tech giants step up: Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta and Amazon, collectively spending over $600 billion on AI. Then Friday, all eyes turn to oil with Exxon and Chevron reporting for the first time since the Iran conflict began.

Boh and Alex have the full rundown
