The iconic platypus is to be given much-needed help thanks to plans by the Taronga Conservation Society Australia and RSPCA NSW to build a new Platypus Rescue and Rehabilitation Facility.

The new purpose-built facility at Taronga Zoo Sydney is on the way, thanks to a $600,000 donation from RSPCA NSW and will serve as a refuge for platypus requiring urgent care and respite. The RSPCA NSW’s donation was made possible by the outpouring of public support during the Black Summer bushfires through RSPCA NSW’s emergency appeal.

Cafes in Sydney Committed to Higher Welfare Food

Australians care about farm animals. Three out of four people agree that when eating at a restaurant or café, it's important that the meat, eggs and dairy products served, come from animals farmed in a humane and ethical way.

The RSPCA's Choose Wisely initiative makes it easy to find venues that source food from higher welfare farming systems, such as cage-free eggs. In Sydney, there are a number of eating spots now listed too.

A homecoming. A picnic. A party. A leave taking. It’s an uncertain time. Change is coming, you can sniff it in the air. A matriarch returns to a home that’s seen better days – but it still has its orchard. Precious, beautiful, but…in the way.

Chekhov’s great, last play comes to the Belvoir mainstage, with Artistic Director Eamon Flack directing for the first time in its 2021 season.

Prominent Sydney artist Peter Sharp is well known for his large abstract works of the Australian landscape. But what is less well known are the paintings he based his larger works on.

Manly Art Gallery & Museum (MAG&M), in a new exhibition Peter Sharp: Accidental Tourist (25 June to 1 August), is pleased to present 40 of Sharp’s en plein air paintings (created outdoors) over the past 30 years, especially selected from his practice.

There is something ethereal about the music of Cat Stevens. He inspired generations, and his music still has as much impact today as it did when he first penned songs such as Peace Train, Moonshadow, Wild World, Morning Has Broken, Where Do The Children Play and Father and Son.

Celebrating the music of Cat Stevens has never been far from revered performer Darren Coggan’s heart. As the star of Peace Train – The Cat Stevens Story, Darren received rave reviews for his portrayal of the music that shaped the world. He spent the past decade touring some of the world’s most prestigious theatres, such as Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, Glasgow Concert Hall and Liverpool Philharmonic, embodying the work of Cat Stevens and was even invited to meet the prolific songwriter himself.
