**Please note, the AMTA is in no way associated with any of the promoters or teams connected to the accident discussed. We are a safety organisation based in Australia, and felt it was important to reiterate the importance of Monster Truck safety protocols, due to the global ramifications of this accident.**
The AMTA would like to issue a public statement regarding the recent deadly Monster Truck accident that occurred in Colombia. We would firstly like to extend our condolences to those close to the deceased and those impacted by the tragedy.
It is in moments like this that it is necessary to reiterate the importance of safety when conducting any event featuring Monster Trucks in any capacity. This encompasses the physical features present on the truck itself, proper safety holds and barriers, and thorough driver training to identify risks and drive responsibly.
Maintaining up-to-date and responsive Remote Ignition Interupters (RIIβs) ensures that, in cases such as this, when the truck is deemed out of control, it can be shut down by an external figure. It is evident through the documentation of this tragedy that safety was not prioritised by those involved.
If there is one thing that must unite the industry, it is the responsibility we share to put on safe events. The Australasian Monster Truck Association will continue to advocate for more teams and events to prioritise event safety and ensure that all AMTA-Certified events comply with government and industry regulations.
The Australasian Monster Truck Association,
