Chris Minns has come out and said that rival developers could be called in to finish the Bathla Group projects.
Love the thinking Minnsi but let’s have a look at the current climate.
Stockland and Metricon two of the largest developers in the country have said their sales have dropped by 40% and that future development projects might be paused for now.
Harry Triguboff? - he’s off doing his own thing and I don’t think these Bathla projects really fit his business model.
So who’s left? Multiplex and Lendlease? They’re mainly in the larger commercial game and do a lot of government contracts.
Even if there was a possibility of another developer coming in to finish these off I don’t think they would consider a deal unless it was say 20 cents on the dollar!
Unless the government cuts a deal with another developer and actually puts up some cash and has skin in the game I just don’t think this would work.
I think the administrators won’t be able to find a solution and Bathla Group would go into liquidation.
But who knows let’s see how all this plays out.
