Benchmark Capital is proud to congratulate our Co-Founder and CEO, Fawaz Sankari, on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2026 King's Birthday Honours for service to the community and the banking sector.

Over a career spanning almost three decades, Fawaz has helped build and lead financial institutions, champion educational excellence, and strengthen economic and cultural ties between Australia and the Arab world.

From helping grow Bank of Sydney into a nationally recognised institution to serving as Chairman of Al Noori Muslim School and leading the Australian Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry NSW, Fawaz has dedicated his career to creating pathways for others to succeed.

Reflecting on the recognition, Fawaz said:

"Finance and education are two of the most powerful tools for social mobility. I've always believed that when people are given access to the right opportunities, support and networks, extraordinary things become possible. This honour belongs to the many communities, colleagues, mentors and institutions that have shaped my journey and entrusted me to serve alongside them."
