A Vietnamese feast in Port Hedland 🇻🇳

Once a month, our team at the MGM Lodge in Port Hedland hosts a theme night for our residents. It's a chance to break up the routine and give everyone something to look forward to after a long shift.

September's theme was Vietnamese, and the menu delivered! Residents enjoyed a classic beef pho, crispy asian pork belly and a hands-on make-your-own pork banh mi. With many more dishes on the menu, the mango and passionfruit sago was the perfect way to end the night.

A big thank you to our chefs and kitchen teams, whose skill and effort made the night possible. It was an absolute hit with residents! 👏

Recently, we welcomed members of the local Anindilyakwa community to an information session and site tour, offering a firsthand look at life and careers with ESS on Groote Eylandt.

A standout moment of the day was hearing from members of our June Employment Program cohort, who are now thriving in roles on site. Sharing their journeys, challenges and achievements, they gave participants a genuine insight into what is possible and the opportunities that can come from taking that first step. Their stories brought the program to life and sparked meaningful conversations about future pathways into employment.

We're grateful to Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island Enterprises - GEBIE and the RAES team for their continued partnership and commitment to creating lasting employment opportunities for local people. Together, we're helping build skills, confidence and brighter futures across the region, and we're excited to continue that journey alongside the community.
