HUGE WIN! Credit score from 300 to 900 in 2 days! đ
A couple of weeks ago, a client came to me on a Thursday with an urgent request - she wanted to make an offer on a property her buyerâs agent had recommended, with a deadline of the following Tuesday.
She had been turned away by her previous broker, who hadnât responded to her since March. The reason? A fraudulent default from an identity thief had left a 4-month late repayment on her credit file, limiting her borrowing options to tier 3 lenders at best. Although sheâd been trying to have it removed since March, sheâd been told the wait time was at least four months.
Despite the odds, I went ahead and lodged the application with Macquarie on Thursday night. We received conditional approval by Friday morning.
Normally, Macquarie issues automatic pre-approvals, but I requested a full credit assessment due to the nature of the clientâs situation, something thatâs rarely granted without a signed contract of sale, especially given their current backlog.
After the full assessment was granted, Macquarie advised that an email from Equifax wasnât enough and the default had to be removed from the credit report itself.
We didnât have four months to wait. I explored using a credit repair company, but the turnaround was still too slow (minimum one month), and costly.
So, over Monday and Tuesday, after many phone calls and a few tears from the client, Equifax finally agreed to remove the default. We provided proof that there were no lender exceptions available, and with that pressure, the default was removed just in time. My client signed the contract that night, and we received formal approval the next day.
I know this result was largely due to my clientâs persistence (sheâs the one who sat on hold and fought for it), but being there to support her and help guide the strategy made the difference.
A huge win for both of usâand a lovely review to top it off!
