A business recently approached G&H Financial after their primary bank declined a funding request.

The business itself was strong – consistent revenue, solid client base and positive growth outlook.

The challenge was not creditworthiness. It was structure.

The original request had been positioned as a standard working capital facility, which did not align with the actual purpose of the funding.

After reviewing the situation, the structure was repositioned to better reflect the business’s operating model and cashflow cycle.

The result – funding approved and the business able to proceed with its planned expansion.

In many cases, outcomes depend less on the business itself and more on how the funding proposal is structured and presented.

There’s a lot to learn when you first become a broker.

Things like how to write a deal, how to find your first clients and why chasing referrals builds a much stronger business.

In this clip from Ep 10 of Brokers and Beers, Brendan Watts from Finance X talks with Robert Grul of G&H Financial about what new brokers actually need more of: practical education.

Cash flow does not always move in a straight line.

A line of credit or overdraft can give businesses flexible access to funds when income fluctuates or seasonal cycles create pressure.

G&H Financial provides commercial finance options that help businesses manage short-term funding needs with more flexibility.

“Clients are a lot more educated now.”

In Part 2 of Ep 9 of Brokers & Beers, Stephen Mitchell from Nexus Advisory talks about the shift he’s seeing in business finance.

Business owners are no longer chasing finance for the sake of it. They’re asking better questions, looking for the right products and focusing more on efficiency than simply spending to grow.

It’s a practical conversation on how businesses are adapting, becoming more finance-savvy and building resilience through tougher conditions.

The best finance option is not always the most obvious one.

A growing business may need more flexibility. A seasonal business may need cash flow support. Another may need funding for equipment or property.

G&H Financial helps businesses access commercial finance that suits the situation, not just the amount required.

Bank funding can look very attractive on paper.

Longer terms. Lower rates. Better structures.

But as Stephen Mitchell from Nexus Advisory explains in Part 2 of Episode Nine, the real challenge is often getting access to it in the first place.

In this clip, G&H Financial's Greg Malone and Stephen unpack the difference between bank and non-bank lending, why the rate gap can be significant and what business owners need to consider before choosing a funding path.

One of the most important principles in any referral relationship is simple – protect the client relationship.

Accountants spend years building trust with their clients. When funding needs arise, that trust must remain at the centre of the conversation.

At G&H Financial, referrals are approached with that in mind.

Our role is to support the client by structuring appropriate funding solutions while ensuring the referring advisor remains fully informed throughout the process.

Clear communication, transparency and alignment with the client’s broader financial strategy are essential.

Strong outcomes are always the result of strong partnerships.
