Productivity

A theory used to measure the efficiency of a process or an individual.
This measurement is to see the collective impact of things like ongoing training and/or process improvements and if they increase the skill of an individual or if a business generates a greater output or even reduces costs.
some ways that could improve productivity:
• Give employee empowerment to make decisions at the base level
• Employee training
• Possible outsourcing (reduce costs)
• Process improvements
Productivity is also used to do research within business sectors and the economy. Increases in productivity can also increase living standards, a significant concern for governments.

Productivity Formula:
total output(revenue) / total costs consumed = labour productivity

Cashflow
Do you understand your business cash flow, more so do, you know where it is at and what it tells you?
Cashflow relates to the inflow and outflow of money coming through the business.

"Positive Cashflow" (not always related to profit"
*assets are increasing
*able to settle debts easily
*reinvest into the business
*ability to withstand future financial challenges

"Negative Cashflow" (outdoor greater than inflow during a period or expansion)
*decreasing assets
*less likely to meet debt responsibilities
*harder to get business loans for assets etc

Cashflow is not profit but is equally as important for business in the long term.

The recent Optus and Medibank data
breaches in which many thousands of
people had their personal information
stolen, has heightened public awareness
of the threat of cyber attacks and identity
fraud. Small business is not immune to the
risks and the impact to a business of an
attack can have devastating consequences.
What steps can you take as a business
owner to help guard against the risk of an
attack?
Spam and Phishing emails are on the
increase and the level of sophistication
some scammers use with these emails
makes it easy to slip up and click on a link
that can have serious connotations for your
business.
If there is any
doubt over the legitimacy of an email do not
click on any links or attachments. Hovering
your mouse over a link can also give you
an insight into where a link may be taking
you.
