Should you pay extra off your mortgage or invest surplus income?

The annoying answer is that it depends ☺️

I personally only pay the minimum on my mortgage and invest the rest.

A few reasons why:
•I don't mind having my home loan, it's very manageable
• My loan is fixed at 2.5% for another 2 years
•I don't want to put too much money into one apartment in Perth, I'd prefer to diversify instead by purchasing ETFs.
•I have a long term investment timeline to ride out market corrections and a good emergency fund/buffer
•l am comfortable with the risk of investing in shares.

Thoughts of the day 👀

Something I’ve struggled with more lately is the filtered vs real versions of myself.

The more time I spend online, the more I notice my imperfect skin or smile lines or that my teeth aren’t as white or straight as they used to be.

Can I spend money trying to ‘fix’ these things? Sure

Would it actually make me happier? No

Paying for teeth whitening, skin treatments, Botox or new serums would possibly give me a short term confidence boost, but it wouldn’t fix how I really feel about myself.

I’m definitely not saying you shouldn’t spend your money on these things, this is more just a reminder to reflect on why you might want these things and if they really align with your values.

How I look is one of the least interesting things about me, but I still sometimes get caught in the comparison and overthinking trap (and targeted ads are way too onto it sometimes 🫠)

People look different online. Aspiring to look like the filtered version of myself is not the goal.
